Surviving the day

#

Started by donVutz

What is that one thing that you can always rely to to get you through the day, no matter who shitty it is? Hobby, loved persons, strange habbits, name your life saviour here.

For me it is cynism and gallows humor. Now matter how serious things get, I’ll still find at least one point that is absolutly hilarious about the situation. Things really can’t pull you down anymore as soon as you learned to laugh atbout them.
Another thing is music. I always have the right song to get me in a certain mood I want to be. I don’t know how many times the right song at the right moment saved my day. And yes, that counts at least double for you Andy, Micheal and the all the guys that worked with you.

Sarcasm, movies, MVP Baseball 2005, music, and playing my guitar. No better way to let off steam than to crank up some T? or live PJ, and jam till you drop

Is something is pulling me down then I find that by focussing on how I am stronger than that thing, and how I might overcome it, I start to regain control and power and feel much better.

Like most people here - Music. The right song can take your mind to another place. But anything that can put a smile on your face helps - being cynical, a smile from that sexy work colleague (even though you know it’s going to go nowhere), seeing someone stack it.

But whatever you do find something & enjoy it! :)

I second that cliche! Music maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, the right tune at the right moment really helps. Rise Up (or The Offspring’s Come Out Swinging) are pretty good at helping me through blackspots.

Gym/running helps because of the endorphins and because when you’re doing it, you don’t really think about anything else.

I concur with the running/jogging thing, but at the moment I would just be in agony after about 10 minutes - fairly recent knee op. Nothing major, just a little niggle.

For me it’s simply the brute fact that - barring actual death - I will still be here tomorrow. Time ticks along and then tomorrow happens anyway.

Ever noticed how when we are pissed off with somebody we say: “Go get fucked, or fuck you!” I dont get it I think getting fucked is great! What exactly does fuck you mean anyway? Does it mean that they will fuck me or that I must get fucked really? I’m waiting for Shania Twain to tell me to get fucked! Not like it will ever happen though. Jesus, I can write some pointless drivel.

The storey my unmarried and rather hot maths teacher told me in sixth form (I really should have, or at least tried!) was that after the great plague or some such epidemic, there were so few British men around that there was a fear that we’d get invaded by foreigners (obviously still enough plumbers, or we’d be welcoming them with open arms) that the noraml rules of monogamy were lifted and people were ordered to ‘Fornicate Under Commandand of the King’. I think both versions are apocryphal.

Shag somebody is not the best advice if what’s getting you down is an inability to get laid, but that’s when you need a good mate, a right-hand man as Deadsetgav might put it.

After 9 miles this morning, my knees are quite pissed off with me. :(

Sarcasm always works a treat too. Pissing off other people just make you feel so good and warm inside.
