As many of you know, part of my job is to compile CD’s for background music in restaurants, and this week I had my first orders for Christmas music :(

God gimme strength…!

To be fair to the restaurants, we have tried booking our Christmas do at work and a number of places ARE fully booked already, so you can see they aren’t jumping the gun, people really DO want to book that early.

Can’t think WHY, but still…!

I think they meant that in the heat, Oxford St was quite grotty in July.

Was bad enough when Christmas went pre-Halloween, but September now seems to be the official start and it is very annoying.

mrs h - where was this pub offer? As around my way you’d be lucky to find somewhere that does an “xmas” buffet for £11.99. A 3 course meal you’d be looking to pay about £24.50!!!

It’s a Wetherspoons pub, so I’m prepared to bet that the ‘full’ plate of Christmas dinner will come straight out of the freezer, be thrown into the microwave and then delivered (still frozen round the edges but hot enough to melt your cutlery in the middle) with bad grace by surly, miserable staff, made surlier and more miserable having been forced to wear santa hats and bells round their necks or something equally humiliating!

The food is very cheap there, but it’s also usually really, really bad!

I’d look forward to surlier, miserable staff - all we ever seem to get are the ones that want you spend even more on the “seasonal extras”, like a glass of wine that’s 35 pence more expensive because it has Christmas on the label.

I’ve just basically told my lot at work that I’ll stay behind & man the phones. But as soon as the clock clicks to 5, I will be at the pub with them fast than Pete Docherty looking for his next dose of “medication” after 2 weeks without! :p
Because you don’t get Christmas Kronenbourg. :D

And will you be on double time? Not that you would be in it for purely financial reasons, I’m sure! ;)

Oh, you mean the gravy “light” option. Otherwise it’s as thick as fresh concrete, no change that MUCH THICKER than fresh concrete.

mrs h - some us civil servants barely get a rate to do normal stuff. Double time would be a modern day miracle for this government.

Deep fat fryer for 50%, microwave for other 50% and I know the standard of your local Wetherspoon pub very well and that sounds entirely accurate.
