Lonely Cryin’ Only.. Re-recording?

#

Started by Fuzzeh (Jack)

Great song, beautiful, one of their best, best song eva, etc.

But I remember reading in the last year on this site that Andy was dissapointed with the song and it didn’t come out the way he (originally?) intended which suprised me somewhat. (Not like say Loose or Nowhere.)

Do you think now the band are in a stable position and (In my humble opinion) a very good position that they could consider re-recording or producing, or even writing the song?

PS - I’ll try and find his comments later on.

Maybe he’s liking it again now that it’s in the special studio-live session and the current touring schedule. Or, perhaps that’s a sign he appreciates it again. Whichever it is, fans of the song will find this a reason to cheer.

Personally, I’m not one of them.. though I can see it could be a good song. Perhaps it’s improved a lot now - I wouldn’t know. :)

I think the reason he doesn’t like it is similar to “my voodoo doll” .. executed wrongly and didn’t sound like t? to andy yet he liked the potential, lyrics and vocal melody.

What do you mean? That it doesn’t surprise you that Andy doesn’t like Loose or Nowhere or that those two songs “came out” exactly the way they should? Confused I am.

He thinks nowhere and loose are 2 of their best songs (and rightly so) and I think he wishes lonely cryin’ only (in his opinion not mine) came out the same way.

I think they would be better off re-producing Nurse and releasing it again.

Like The Manics did with their reissues and give Nurse a big fuck off rock production! It could certainly use it! ;)

YES totally, hence why I remastered it for my own purposes!!

It sounds much better with a bit more bass in the mix; and I’m normally someone who would rarely turn the bass UP, but it’s lacking on nurse.

I think the guitars could do with a boost - its a twisted indie rock record with dub bass and rave influences with indie shoegazer production!

No, Andy has said the same. Production could have been better, sound was too “thin”.

What are the chances of this happening do you think? Maybe if enough WOM’s get behind the idea the old record label will let them buy the album out then they can do what they want with it. :)

Did Andy say that at a gig or in an interview?

Does that mean a rerelease under Spitfire is imminent? And if so, will there be unreleased bonustracks that will shock the very foundations of the earth?

Probably not, but, sometimes the cane’s sugar, other times it’s a tool to rest on and beat vigilant muggers with.
