Slayer are Losing it

#

Right, that’s grabbed your attention.

I’ve just come back from Cardiff where Slayer played the city’s arena. Like most fans, I had been looking forward to this gig for sometime. And whilst it was a good gig (Children of Bodom and Lamb Of God were great), I somewhat felt that Slayer are losing their touch on stage.

For a start, Tom’s voice isn’t as strong as it once was, relyed on the fans to fill in the blanks (scream out the words that Tom would have belted out) and did not do his vital scream at the begining of Angel of Death, the song that closed the set.

I’ve got another grumble; I couldn’t hear Jeff’s guitar, whilst Kerry’s was in ya face.

The set was more of a greatest hits set, which was great since their latest album is good, but not great. But that’s for another debate.

Didn’t see them but i can see what you mean cos Metallica did the same thing didn’t they? Playing a heritage set and Hetfields growl turned into a normal voice. But give them credit - they have been doing this a LOT of years!

That’s for replying to my thread good people, but since I was at the opening date of their British tour, I’m sure this thread will get a few messages.

Did anyone get Kerrap! the other week? Kerry King was being a right arse to his fans. Not surprising though, when you’ve set yourself up against Metallica and failed you can be a bit of a dick i guess…

Well poor sound can hardly be blamed on the band “losing it”, but from the performance on their latest album, I would say they have stil “got” “it”.

Whether you like them or not is a matter of opinion, but I can’t see a case for saying that their musicianship has suffered, except maybe Tom’s voice, but sadly that does happen to singers, especially ones who scream like madmen live on stage day in day out.

For once, I have to agree on the beard front, although I will reitterate the fact that beards are intrinsically wrong and should never be worn by anyone, ever.

Not even Jesus, and he was perfect. Apparently.

I saw Slayer last week in Glasgow at the SECC (which is very probably THE worst place for sound in the world EVER)and i agree that other than Tom’s voice, they have still “got it”.

Couldn’t disagree more. Slayer have and will never lose it. regardless of what they do, it’ll always be Slayer. And as for Araya’s voice not being what it was anymore: think about it, they’ve been doing this for nearly a quarter of a century. One’s voice tends to change when getting older…

I’ve been to the Unholy Alliance in Leuven, and I thought Slayer blew all the other bands away.

Seen Slayer once in the 90´s and twice now on this century and they haven´t lost nothing from their talent; total murder from the begin to the end. And yes, they blew the other bands totally away here in Tampere too:cool:
