Cool shit you don’t really need…

Today my Finnish gas mask arrived. I’m using it for a birthday party…well that’s my excuse. I’ve wanted one for ages and this is my way of getting one. Anyone else ordered cool stuff they really don’t need?

90% of my Therapy?-collection are things I don’t really need… When I come to think of it, what’s the use of having the same release 10 times, just because there’s a minor difference in them, that only geeks are able to see :o
But still… I can’t do without all this.
Go on, buy stuff you don’t really need, it’s fun!!! :D

I used to collect records but deliberately stopped - it can be a very expensive hobby and one that’s never completely satisfying as there’s usually always even rarer stuff out there that you don’t have!

Without that, what’s the fun of collecting? It’s not nice to know you have everything already, you don’t have anything to look out for. It IS frustrating to know something exists, but you can’t get your hands on it.

What I meant was, it’s a hobby with no possibility of satisfaction - because even if you get everything ever released by a band, in every format, there’s always going to be records/CDs out there with one less scratch than the one you have…covers with one less crease etc. etc. So to me it seems a bit futile…but then I guess any hobby is essentially futile :)

I fear I’m probably not making much sense here

I’ve not bought vinyl in years, simply because I don’t have the space. Collect Bad Taste Bears and music CDs and I’m running out of space for them - ahhhhh.

I find this especially true concerning bootleg collecting. I know that some people have slightly better, lower generation versions of what I have, but is it really worth asking for a copy? At what point is enough really enough!!?

Unless you own the master recordings of everything filmed of the band (which is impossible of course), bootleg collecting is a bit pointless really.

Never! ;)
It’s true, but lower generation videos do make it nicer to watch of course, and it’s hard to know if it will be slightly better, or a lot better of course…

Bootleg collecting is very frustrating, especially when you know someone’s got some very nice stuff you can’t find elsewhere, but stopped trading :(

I think collecting should be more about having a personal collection than having “EVERYTHING” in *perfect* condition.

Maybe that’s just me.
