On you tube there is a live recording of a new Velvet Revolver song called Let It Roll It’s quite a simple song nothing amazing but I like it, sort of looking forward to the new album now… thought the last one was good be it a little too long.
Also saw that The Beastie Boys will have a new one out this year, it looks a good year for albums.:)

Contraband left me cold, to be honest, but I am liking this new one a lot - nice, driving kinda riffy thing, exactly what Slash does best

Contraband I really liked when it first came out, but i sort of got a bit tired of it… for a debut album with the pressure they probably had to write a good one it was fine. It was just hard work listening to it all in one sitting. Hopefully they have gelled more now and the new one show that.
The albums I have really enjoyed so far this year have been… Machine Head, NIN and Money marks one… and the ones I’m really looking forward the most at the Down, QOTSA, Unkle, Bad religion and Arch Enemy ones.

If anyone out there is waiting for the Manics album, I have heard it and can tell you that the new single - the one with “that bird out the Cardigans” - is a good representation of where they’re at right now. Bit more oomph than Lifeblood, but not one for the Holy Bible die-hards.

Well, it certainly isn’t the “Marshalls up to 11/ Jack Daniels for breakfast/ live fast die young leave a beautiful corpse” rock record Wire would like to suggest it is…but it’s a good, solid album, although if there was one band out there who would at one time have been horrified by the words “good, solid album”, it is the Manics.
