‘Macarena’ has got to be the worst song recorded in history. And the stupid dance only makes it worse. I don’t even get angry when I hear that song, I just lose all hope in mankind. :(

i’m not sure if this is irrational or not but there’s a great number of Queen songs that make me twitch when i hear them. Headlong, is soooo cheesy, A Kind of Magic is annoying and One Vision i have to turn off!

Is it bad to hate Queen?!

Two more for the hatred pile:

Aqua - Barbie Girl
Betty Boo - Doing the Do

Dare not add in Doop by Doop, as it probably reminded mrs h of her youth :D

I’d agree with you if only Keith Harris and Orville had never existed…

I mean for f**ks sake!!

Orville’s Song
Orville: I wish I could fly way up to the sky but I can’t,
Keith: You can,
Orville: I can’t!
Orville: I wish I could see what folks see in me but I can’t,
Keith: You can,
Orville: I can’t!
Keith: Look, Orville,
Orville: Yes?
Keith: Nothing that you can say
Will change how I feel today:
I know that we’ll never part;
Now hear what I’m saying, Orville?
Orville: Yes?
Keith: Who is your very best friend?
Orville: You are.
Keith: I’m gonna help you mend your broken heart.
Orville: Thank you.

Orville: I wish that I had a mummy and dad but I don’t,
Keith: You don’t?
Orville: I don’t!
Orville: I often pretend my sadness will end but it won’t,
Keith: It will,
Orville: I won’t!
Keith: Look, Orville,
Orville: Yes?
Keith: Now that I’m here with you,
There’s nothing that you can’t do,
So why don’t you make a start
And hear what I’m saying, Orville?
Orville: Yes?
Keith: Who is your very best friend?
Orville: You are.
Keith: I’m gonna help you mend your broken heart.
Orville: Ahhh…

Orville: So does this mean although I’m green
And not exactly bright,
You want to care and will be there
To tuck me in at night?
Keith: Well, I’ll always be there, Orville!

Orville: The other birds laugh and say that I’m daft and I am,
Keith: You’re not!
Orville: I am!
Orville: They tease me a lot and call me a clot and I am,
Keith: You’re not!
Orville: I am!
Keith: Look, Orville?
Orville: Yes?
Keith: Nothing that you can say
Will change how I feel today:
I know that we’ll never part;
Now hear what I’m saying, Orville?
Orville: Yes?
Keith: Who is your very best friend?
Orville: You are.
Keith: I’m gonna help you mend your broken heart.

[Spoken]
Orville: Thank you. ‘Cos I’ve got a broken heart, haven’t I?
Keith: Yes, I know, but I’m going to help you mend it.
Orville: You, you will do it, won’t you. You’ll help me?
Keith: Of course.
Orville: ‘Cos you love me, don’t you?
Keith: We all love you, Orville.
Orville: How, how, how much do you love me?
Keith: Ooh… this much!
Orville: As much as that?
Keith: Yeah.
Orville: Ahhh… my broken heart.

If only the bloody thing was real I would have hunted it down, flattened it and cooked it

But it’s such a tragic song. :( Used to be one of my favourites… Or, at least, the one that my relatives would make me sing over and over and over again, because it (and I) was cute. :(

I think i honestly do have it on Vinyl somewhere… I sort of remember being taken to see him live when I was very little (about 2-3)and you could meet him, as my brother wanted to I got forced to as well and as soon as I got near I cried… I think I did the same with Rod hull and emu, I guess ugly men with their hands up puppets arses just wasn’t my thing.

No; I don’t even need to open my mouth before being beaten. For some reason there’s something about a fat man in his late twenties dressed in a green feathered suit and nappy that brings out the worst in people. Especially skinhead people. :(

Yes, I can imagine. In fact I’d have to batter you myself. Perhaps you should just lose the feathers and stick with the nappy? You’d look like a sumo wrestler and would be less likely to be picked on :)

I have never understood that song. I mean, the implication of the song is that it is a threat of physical violence, right? But, let’s say the singer kicked seven bells out of you…Would you really phone an ambulance and ASK THEM TO TAKE YOU HOME? Or would you lie there in agony and say “You know, if you don’t mind, and if it’s really not too much trouble, I should quite like to go to the Accident & Emergency ward of the nearest hospital, preferably very soon from now…” …?

lol So true!! I have thought back time and time again, wracking my brains to try and remember ever seeing a punk with flowers in her hair …

@ Dennis - I think the implication is that even when you leave hospital you won’t be walking. But I take your point :)

I didn’t know who you were talking about, so looked her up in Wiki.

“While the song had obvious chart success, critics have pointed out oddities in both the lyrics and the title of the song. For example, the title includes the unlikely pairing of hippie and punk styles- the former was a major movement until the early years of the seventies only, while the punk movement is generally agreed to have begun slightly later, circa 1975. Both groups held vastly different attitudes towards life and the establishment and the punk “revolution” can be viewed as a rebellion away from hippie culture. [1] The explanation for this comes in the lyrics to the chorus:

I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In ‘77 and ‘69, revolution was in the air
I was born too late to a world that doesn’t care.

Thom is clearly expressing a desire to have been born into a time when revolution was possible and when people cared enough to form these movements. It is a statement against the perceived apathy of 2006.”

So there you go, it’s actually all really intelligent…
