New cd’s!

#

Started by Michael

Hi all, has anybody listened to any good cd’s lately? I sure as hell have, allow me to share it with you:

Undeclinable - Sound City Burning -> Oh my f*cking God, what a cd!!! Undeclinable is a Dutch punk band, with an own unique sound. This cd really rocks, is very accessible, and you’ll like it more and more, trust me!

Amorphis - Am Universum -> Anyone who likes their previous album ‘Tuonela’ will surely like this one. The growling is completely gone now, it’s a very nice cd to listen to.

Muse - The Origin Of Symmetry -> I never really liked Muse, but after hearing ‘Plug In Baby’ (what a song…), I decided to give them a try, and yes, they’re pretty good. They still remind me of Radiohead, only a bit louder, fortunately!

Blink 182 - Take Off Your Pants And Jacket -> I know many of you dislike Blink, but I kinda like them, when I just want to listen to some ‘fun-punk’. It’s not serious at all, which can be kinda nice after all the miserable songs I listen to. This CD can be seen as a continuation of Enema Of The State, really accessible, poppy punk music.

Has anyone listened to ‘No Name Face’ by Lifehouse? I listen to their single ‘Hanging by a moment’ everyday, that song is great! And how about ‘Finelines’ by My Vitriol? I really like the song ‘Always Your Way’, I don’t know what the rest sounds like.

Amnesiac is a really good album. I don’t know whether it has been released but i guess that most of you have heard some songs or even the whole album, it has been on the internet for ages. It is still very experimental and i never liked Radiohead very much, but after hearing songs like I Might Be Wrong, Pyramid Song and Knives Out, i changed my mind for good. So go get Amnesiac, you wont regret it.

I forgot to mention ‘Now You See Inside’ by SR-71. I think it’s a great album, with great pop-punk songs, but also somewhat slower songs. Try it, you’ll love it!

And yes, My Vitriol does sound great, I listened to some more songs.
Oh, how about Placebo? They’re (latest?) single Special K blew me away, and their album ‘Black Market Music’ isn’t bad either.

Ahhh, Placebo. Placebo are a typical rock band of the late nineties. They released an amazing debut album, their second album was average (if you compare it to the first), and Black Market Music is awful. Another example is Muse. Everybody was amazed with their first album and then the second came out. Not that it is bad, but it sounds exactly like the first one, this is so fucking safe. Same goes to JJ72, and every other ‘rock’ band that suddenly becomes the new bright hope of rock ‘n’ roll. I remember that with the older rock groups (Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Nirvana and even Therapy?) happened the exact opposite. They would release a usually rough first album and they would get better as time got by. Just think of Bleach or Babyteeth. Unfortunately these good days are gone forever.

I won’t do it. The few lyrics from the first single were too dumb for me, and the second is not that good I’d buy the album or even listen to it. As always, a matter of taste. Go get the new album from Thumb when it’s out ;-)

you’re right with the lyrics of ‘smells like rock’n’roll’! the new single ‘leaving you with this’ is better but still by far not the best song on the cd. check out ‘monogamy’ and ‘wheels of steel’; maybe you’ll like them better!
weel, maybe it’s just a matter of sympathy as i know the band-members for 6 years now and know how their style has changed over the years.
i’m really impressed how they’ve worked out!
however, as you said, it’s a matter of taste…

About the emil bulls: the more bands and singers like this are played, and the less those wannabe stars (ex. big brother) it’s alright I think.

Thanks for the CDs again! Why are ‘The Moustache Song’ and ‘Sick Of You’ recorded so calm? Do you know about the fault during the fast version of ‘Diane’?
Besides that: EXCELLENT RECORDINGS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Hey Christian, sorry no news about the remixes yet. Anyway; for everyone; if you come across a certain Jeremy Bright (USA) DO NOT TRADE WITH HIM. -> he’s not worth. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear from him again.

Hey Stefan, no didn’t know about the fault during diane. I’ll check my recording and will let you know later. And by the way; ‘The Moustache Song’ and ‘Sick Of You’ are recorded so calm because they from an excellent (THANX AGAIN RONALD!) gig in a very small venue (a church it was i think)

For the rest; hey ho let’s go
