I’m looking forward to that album, too. Check out Beth Gibbons solo album from a few years ago, if you haven’t heard it, yet. It’s pretty good.

It’s hard to believe that their self-titled 2nd album was released way back in 1997,they’ve all been involved in so many different side-projects they didn’t have time to work on a new album.

isn’t one of the members meant to to be some kind of a recluse? and thats why they take so long to do anything. i guess he only managed to deal with him problem 3 times for the two albums and the live performance in ny…

Nme have something about this album on there site Portishead
The tracks on their myspace page are just instrumentals and don’t really give much away… really rough ideas of songs. Not really worth the fuss.

Never heard any of the solo stuff (which means it must be overrated ;) ) but will probably get a third album.
Will means the rest you shouldn’t as clearly Portishead are becoming 30-something dinner party music! Your cool is at stake, you have been warned!

It’s a bit darker in my opinion but i wouldn’t say it’s that far and away from the first album. I really like the live one in new york.

Any news on this hotly anticipated (well, by some) album?? Portishead are reaching My Bloody Valentine-esque proportions for looong waits between albums…
It took me a while to warm up to Beth Gibbons solo album - it’s good for those quiet, depressing times in the fall and early winter when you want some music to fit your melancholic mood.
