but let’s face it, you know and i know and every one else know’s that it will be crap anyway. it’s just to make the tour serve some kind of purpose other than “hmmm, no-one bought our last album, let’s play some old stuff etc etc”. and then someone came up with the brilliant idea of calling it the past/present/future tour meaning that they had to put out something new. personally i’d much rather they put out always/never as a single but then again, i’m just little old me.

well,i would not be surprised if that rumour were true - let’s face it, most of the tunes on lifeblood are hardly single material.

let’s hope they’ll return with a belter like masses against the classes as the antithesis to lifeblood….well.maybe.

I am going to the Wolves gig (tomorrow, as it happens) although I have very low expectations. I saw them on the Holy Bible tour at the same venue, and they were the most vital, life-affirming band I have ever witnessed. I had no intention of ever seeing them again after the dismal Greatest Hits gig at the NEC but my brother wanted to go and so out of morbid curiosity I am going. I’ll let you know how it goes.

(Crosses fingers furiously for lots of Holy Bible tracks and some surprisingly good new songs…)

Why are they playing smaller venues now???? The cambridge corn exchange is pretty small compared to what they normally play

dennis: archives of pain acoustic? are you sure you’re looking at the right setlist? archives of pain is indeed being played but not acoustic. the only acoustic number mentioned is the everlasting.

A friend of mine phoned me from that gig when they were playing Faster!

Archives Of Pain was indeed been played acoustic on the Lifeblood tour.I’ve no idea what version they’re playing on this tour,from the setlists it seem they are playing at least four or five Holy Bible songs.

I downloaded a bad quality version of Fireflight earlier and it’s a bit crap maybe the studio version will be better.Heres a link you can judge for yourselves but it’s just more bland MOR rock.

I’ve heard all the new tracks from the EP on 6Music and i’m shocked they’re actually ok.There’s nothing amazing on the EP,the songs are only really b-side quality but much better than some of the crap that ended up on Know Your Enemy and Lifeblood.Apparently once this tour has finished thats it for at least two years and there will be no 3rd single(the songs on this EP were probably it’s B-sides) from Lifeblood.Sony wouldn’t pay for the EP it’s coming out of the bands own pockets(probably not a good sign for the future).Secret Society is the best song of the three it’s very ‘rock’,at first i thought it’s lyrics were terrible but now i really like the line “Ban religion,wipe it out and start again”.The studio version of Firefight is a very MOR pop almost in Lifeblood territory but it’s alright written by James Dean Bradfield and the last song Picturesque is the weakest.Nicky used a line from an old unreleased Richey song to complete it’s lyrics.I had pretty low expectations for this free EP but i’m glad it’s ok.

Thats probably because apart from Radio 2 no one else will play them,yeah it’s called The Love Of Richard Nixon the song that killed their career.I think James Dean Bradfields vocals on this song sound very bored especially near the end.There’s another Manics topic a few pages back with me ranting about Lifeblood.It’s an album that’s split the fanbase some people love it and others hate it.Last year this was second album i wanted to hear the most and i was very disappointed.Now i think it’s a very average album with some outstanding moments like 1985 and To Repel Ghosts which are worth downloading.The rest of the album ranges from ok to terrible.If you’re new to the Manics you should check out The Holy Bible and Everthing Must Go.Lifeblood is now £4.99 on play.com if you want to take a risk.

The 10th Anniversary edition of The Holy Bible is a fantastic buy.It’s really good value as well when you consider you get two CD’s with lots of bonus tracks and a DVD.

Both it comes with thirteen videos well actually it’s sixteen three of the videos are easter eggs and a 30 min band interview minus Richey of course.The videos are taken from various TV appearances,MTV,Top Of The Pops,Reading Festival and Glastonbury 94.Oh and it has the video for Judge Yourself.

Is 15.99 a good price to pay for it?

When you are watching the videos and you see the rotatings R’s at the bottom of the screen just click select on your remote and it plays the promo videos for Faster,She Is Suffering and Revol.The video are already on the Forever Delayed DVD.
