Lets see what franz F, kaiser ciefs et al sound like when they are on their 6th albums…Hopefully Pete Doherty will be dead by then and we wont have to be subjected to his talent free shit anymore
And that British band Therapy? God they’re shit… oh wait ;)

i dont care about this… i hate the british music scene.. look on mtv2 they often show some typical british bands… which sound all like the same… well yeah there are good bands.. but i prefer other things… that oasis-travis-libertines thing is so boooring.. always the same guitars, booring voices.. and the songs sound all the same…
no thanks

I’m not a fan of the Kings Of Leon,Libertines,i’ve not heard much by the Kaiser Chiefs to make my mind up one way of the other about them and Franz Ferdinand are just ok but i’d still rather listen to any of that lot than the new Oasis single.:p
I have a friend who loves Oasis they’re his favourite band, he’s got all their CD’s and seen em live plenty of times and even he thinks Lyla is shit. But being a loyal fan he will buy the single anyway to get the new B-sides.

i’ve always liked oasis, but i think, as been said before, that lyla is utter disappointing, dull and boring. and the video is just as annoying.
squall, your arguments make no sense. you’re just like those other typical oasis-fans, defending “your own band”, by bashing other bands.
and yes, oasis are one of my favourite band, not my n°1 favourite, but still. and yes, i will also be buying the new single to get the new b-sides. and yes, i will be buying the new album. and yes, i will be awake really early next thursday to get tix for the belgian show.

its not a great song, but its not the worst theyve done either… im glad oasis are still around, even if theyre obviously not at their best…i still think they can write a good tune (but they cant wirte great albums anymore) as Heathen Chemistry had one or two brill tracks, and about eight crappy ones

I’d like Oasis to make a good album again i hope Lyla is just the one weakspot on Don’t Believe The Truth and the rest of it is good.

Does anyone else think the start is a rip-off os Streetfighting Man by the Stones? A song Oasis covered a few years ago. My mate said the same thing as soon as he heard it.
I know Noel has made a career out of ripping of other peoples song (Shakermaker is ‘I want to teach the world to sing’ and Hindu Times is ‘Does your mother know?’ by Abba) but it’s just laziness.

Noel also ripped off Stevie Wonder with the song Step Out it was originally intended to be on (Whats The Story) Morning Glory?,it made it as far as being on the promos before Stevie Wonders lawyers heard it and they asked for royalities so Noel made it a B-side instead.
I’ve heard the new Oasis album thanks to allroys link and it’s better than i expected it to be.It’s just an ok album it will keep the fans happy but i doubt it will make any new converts. All the usual Beatles/John Lennon influences are still present and correct.Lyla is one of the weaker songs on the album. On first listen the song that really stands out for me is the Noel sung Part Of The Queue which has the feel of an early B-side it’s that good.I think that Observer review is a bit too high, the same with Q i’d it rate the album 3/5.Back in 2002 Heathen Chemistry was the biggest selling British rock album i think this year Coldplay will sell more albums than Oasis but this album should do well for them.
