This review makes my fears come true that the movie will be total crap. :(

Title: Don’t read this, Hooch

An example of how they left out the gags in the movie.

The dialogue between Arthur and Prosser, which was written for a sketch in a Cambridge Footlights revue in October 1973, is a terrific example of Douglas’ clever way with - and love of - language:

“I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”
“That’s the Display Department.”
“With a torch.”
“The lights had probably gone.”
“So had the stairs.”
“But you found the plans, didn’t you?”
“Oh yes, they were ‘on display’ in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the leopard.’”

Or, as the movie version has it:

“I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”
“But you found the plans, didn’t you?”

Well, it took a long time to get there but I saw it tonight and I liked it. Agreed it wasn’t as laugh out loud as the book (or game) but it had it’s moments.

I’m actually only posting this because I want some kind soul to find me a copy of the dophin song and I’m rubbish at all this torrenty business. Anyone? :D

I enjoyed it a lot, the thing is that every time they have done a version be it tv, radio or book it has always been different to an extent so I think it came out okay, but not the best version.

Are the book extracts in the film that Peter Jones used to do?
Or have they missed those out too.

They are mostly there, and read by Stephen Fry, who does a very good job of it. The accompanying animations are better (technically). Really, I think its all we could have asked for. Changes that make it fresh and interesting, and some old classics done very well, a new spin on things and geeky little homages here and there. I thought it was a great film. Not as good as the radio series, certainly not as good as the books, but good, and worthy of the series.
