Started by Taunty Dan

ITS TAKEN YEARS OF TRYING BUT I HAVE FINALLY (HOPEFULLY) MANAGED TO QUIT SMOKING. 4 WEEKS 6 DAYS AND COUNTING…

ANYBODY ELSE DONE IT? DOES THE DESIRE TO KILL RANDOM FOLK AND LOSE ALL SENSE OF HUMOUR AND HOPE SUBSIDE?

well its the longest i’ve gone without but my GOD i’m miserable! its so damn hard. Ok, theres a lot to be said for being able to breathe and smell and taste and all that bollocks, but jesus, who needs all that??!!! i’ve also developed a rather nasty Radiohead addiction which probably doesn’t really help.

My gran said Zyban was excellent. But she also started smoking again. I was quite peeved cause I went to my doctor for some more nicotine patches and she said I couldn’t have any because I wasn’t using them properly.

Personally, I think only using them when I thought there was a chance I would smoke (like in the pub) rather than 24 hours a day was a good thing. But no, she’d rather I wore them aaaaall the time. So now she says I have to go to councilling sessions instead. To which I said bollocks and bought myself some smokes.

mmm…smoking…

p.s. Panzer - To go ‘cold turkey’ means to quit with no help or aids :)

Ah, that’s where I was going wrong. I though it meant for a bloke to walk around in winter with his flies undone.

Honestly, what a bunch of soft gits. I quit smoking years ago as a New Years resolution and haven’t looked back, no problem. The only problem was when I went to the pub I had two hands free for holding drinks instead of one. My lungs are fine, my liver is well pickled.

ok…

All cigarettes can damage the human body. Any amount of smoke is dangerous. Cigarettes are perhaps the only legal product whose advertised and intended use—smoking—is harmful to the body and causes cancer.

Although some people try to make their smoking habit safer by smoking fewer cigarettes, most smokers find that hard to do. Some people think that switching from high-tar and high-nicotine cigarettes to those with low tar and nicotine makes smoking safer, but this is not true. When people switch to brands with lower tar and nicotine, they often end up smoking more cigarettes, or more of each cigarette, to get the same nicotine dose as before.

A low-tar cigarette can be just as harmful as a high-tar cigarette when a person takes deeper puffs, puffs more frequently, or smokes them to a shorter butt length. Even if smokers who switch to lower-tar brands do not make these changes to compensate, the health benefits are very small when compared to the benefits of quitting for good.

:D

to the people who turn around in a bar and look at you with disgust when you’ve just lit a cigarette - fuck off the lot of you! just cause you had a sheltered little rich boy upbringing and wanna bring your ugly little swotty kids up good and proper. they’ll smoke. they’ll drink. they’ll get stoned. they’ll make you so ashamed of them that they’ll become friends with people like me who love to piss off people
