Actually I thought he was better in this episode than in the past, but you don’t seem to be alone on that one. It’s when he does ‘zany’ that I don’t like.

No, he didn’t do Zany this week, which is why I thought he was better. :)
I thought his shouting at the dalek was good, though. (I do like his acting, I may not be giving that impression…)

I’ve read some slightly mixed reviews about this one, so my expectations are a little lower, but will be good to see Simon Pegg in it. :)

Yeah, though I’m glad that I didn’t have high hopes for this one. It was fine, nothing bad in it, I don’t think, just nothing particularly remarkable (except Simon Pegg ;)). I’m sure that idea of promoting people has been used in a similar way in something else, though. It’s bugging me that I can’t think where.
Did you spot the Bad Wolf reference?

RTD said the strangest thing on the Confidential afterwards on BBC3. He said that without Simon Pegg playing the part of the editor, the episode would have been rather dull…

The Bad Wolf reference was that the channel reporting on The Face Of Boe’s pregnancy was Bad Wolf TV.

I wonder if there’ll be any further explanation about that monster thing in the ceiling? I mean, it (or they?) ruled the human empire, and was deliberately making it isolationist, and inhibiting technological advancements. But why?

Oh, actually RTD said something about that in DW confidential. I can’t remember what,though, something about there being more seen later? I forget what he said.

With the episode called The Long Game, and an alien that lives for thousands of years, it really suggests it was planning _for_ something doesn’t it? *thoughtful* :)

‘Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf.’ Isn’t that from a disney version of three little pigs or something? I don’t know, though, maybe it is a nursery rhyme.

It could turn out in the last two episodes it’s (Doctor) who is afraid of the big bad wolf.

Yeah a statement rather a question.It might all be bollocks but remember the Doctor and the soldiers chasing the pig they thought was an alien in the episode with the Slitheen?RTD is probably have a right laugh about all the online speculation about bad wolf.

The first DVD of the new season is being released next week with the first three episodes but i’m going to wait until November and get the boxset with all the extras.

I think the new series has been a bit hit and miss so far.

I thought episodes 2 & 3 and last weeks were pretty good, but the rest have been a bit disappointing.

“Dalek” was a letdown after all the hype and I felt a missed opportunity to do a lot more with the Dalek concept.

Still, 8 (I think!) episodes to go!

Really? I thought that was the best one (so far). What sort of thing did you have in mind (regarding the concept)?

I know it’s not the smae as it used to be, but on the whole I think it’s all very good.

Still, it wouldn’t be Doctor Who if everyone liked the same things about it. :)

I thought the basic premise of the story was great - (from memory) a guy who actually owned the internet and had an alien museum under Salt Lake City, and whose prize artefact was a Dalek.

But after the first ten minutes the whole thing seemed to fall flat. The museum owner turned from a bloke with no scruples into being a complete wimp.

Oh yes, and the Dalek voice was crap…

One of the old Doctor Who Dalek stories “Revelation of the Daleks” is out later in the year - a much better, very dark tale (even though Alexi Sayle is in it!)

Haven’t gone right through the thread, so I’m not sure if this was mentioned already, but a lot of them are currently 9.99, which is i think the cheapest price?

And doesn’t next episode look like quite an epic?!

Bad wolf was written on the Energise poster when the Doctor and Rose were in 1987 just before Rose’s dad was knocked down.
I thougth this episode was much better than last weeks it concentrated more on the characters rather than alien of the week.The ending was very predictable and you knew how it was going to end about 20 mins into the episode but still it was good.
Next weeks episode looks amazing and very expensive.
