Hello
I used to be into Therapy? about 10 years ago and saw them live several times, then some time after ‘Infernal Love’ I sort of lost touch with them - disgraceful, I know. Then about 6 months ago I found an old casette of ‘Infernal Love’ in my car, I realised I still knew all the words and when I thought about it I could pretty much remember every song off every Therapy? album up to ‘Infernal Love’. So I thought, ‘Sod this’ and decided to get back into the band. An excellent decision. In recent weeks I have purchased ‘Pleasure Death’, ‘Nurse’, ‘Troublegum’ and ‘Infernal Love’. Ah, memories. Took me back to my angry teenage years, especially Nurse. I have also ordered ‘Semi-Detached’ and ‘Suicide Pact…You First’ and I am looking forward to hearing both of them.
My favourite Therapy? album is probably ‘Nurse’, I am aware it’s probably not their best from an objective point of view but it basically soundtracked my adolescence (along with Nirvana) so I’ll always have a soft spot for it. My favourite Therapy? song is Hypermania, for two reasons: The amazing drumming and the way Andy snarls “What’s so funny?!” in a big dirty Northern Ireland accent. Cracks me up every time.
One other point of note is that Andy Cairns hails from the same shithole part of the world as me (Ballyclare, the fucking kip) and went to my old school. Once when I was about 16 I saw him walking down Ballyclare main street, this would have been sometime between ‘Nurse’ and ‘Troublegum’. He looked cool as fuck but I was too starstruck to go over and say hello.
Well that’s about it. God my life is exciting.
