Audioslave

New single is here: http://www.audioslave.com/

Not too impressed, a little dull and the lyrics aren’t too inspiring, but I still got myself a ticket to see them in June as I heard they’ve been playing olf Soundgarden and RAGtM stuff too.

I saw them headline donnington when limp bizkit pulled out - they were a little dull then.

They are a classic example of a band being less than the sum of its parts… if that makes any sense?

I loved the first album when it first came out, but I’m not too fussed on them anymore. Cochise and Like A Stone are two of my favourite songs, but I’m bored of the rest of the album now.
On of the new songs, Be Yourself, sounds a bit like chilled-out RHCP to me.
I’d like to hear them do the old stuff, but it just seems a bit commercial. This is the band who said 2 years ago that they wouldn’t play those old songs because they were a new band with new songs. It looks like it’s just an easy way to sell tickets and try to please the people who said they weren’t as good as RATM or Soundgarden. It’s like it worked for Velvet Revolver, so why not?

I said all this to my girlfriend, she says I’m too opinionated and she’s right.

You should hear him do it acoustically by himself. Brilliant! I like it much better than the album version.

I’ve got a bootleg of Pearl Jam playing a benefit in Santa Barbara. Chris Cornell played “Like a Stone” and “Can’t Change Me” by himself, then they did a Temple of the Dog reunion. During Hunger Strike he shows he definitely still has the piped to sing those songs live!

yeah audioslave, i remember when i first heard about the line up i thought, wow this is gonna be amazing…but yeah i found it was just ok, i didn’t blow me away like i was expecting…

i think it’s because whenever i hear an audioslave track it reminds me to much of ratm and i keep expecting zack to start rapping on it…

why can’t soundgarden and ratm just reform, it would be better for everyone…

when is zack de la roche bringing his album out anyway? i heard some tracks he has done with roni size, dead prez and the roots…i hear he was supposed to do some stuff with el-p and mos def amongst people

I thought the 1st Audioslave album was really good in places, but found it was a little too long and dragged in some sections. Still prefer RATM’s stuff which will always kick ass.

Well - Mr Postman dropped this through my letterbox this morning.

I have listened through it once… its the CD equivilant of a caravaning holiday - doesnt seem to go anywhere fast and really not that interesting at all.

They say they are gonna play Rage and Soundgarden songs at their live gigs? no wonder - their own songs suck harder than a pensioner with a bag of murray mints :(

I got the new album today as well and it’s another one to add to the disappointing albums list of 05 so far along with Idlewild,Garbage and Weezer.Although i wasn’t really expecting too much from Audioslave. The album doesn’t seem to go anywhere the best track on it is the bonus track.
Before the album came out in one interview Tom Morello described the album as ferociously rocking but it’s very far from that.At the moment i’d rate the album 6/10 maybe it might grow on me.

After two ok Audioslave albums i think Chris Cornell would be better off solo again.I think Euphoria Morning is so much better than both Audioslave albums and the final Soundgarden album Down On The Upside which was a bit dodgy.
