Got all of Emperor’s stuff, a great band. Not heard the Satyricon album, might check that out. Think I’ll pass on the Dimmu Borgir though, I’m after evil music, not CoF-style kiddy pop! ;)

I find them vvery funny as they are all jazz musicians who started the band as a joke to see if they could do it and now it’s there main job. So it’s not really a joke anymore.

I was only briefly into Black Metal back about 10 years ago, but the best Black Metal album ever IMHO is

Samael - Ceremony Of Opposites

Give it a go mate, you won’t be let down.

No I haven’t myself, kind of mellowed out a little with my old age! Still listen to Pantera and old school Sepultura though.

I liked the 1st Cradle Of Filth album The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh, but the novelty wore off after about 6 months and I have never listened to anything since, so a good 10 - 11 years ago.

My best mate was really into Burzum, Darkthrone and Mayhem, but now he is into his 50 Cent and stuff like that Ha! At least I was the one who stuck with the good taste.

Love the way this has turned from Black Metal to Accrington Stanley!

Haha - I think Stanley did really well this season. They looked like they had a shot of promotion at one point.

Maybe next year…

The first CoF album is a classic. I don’t mind the other earlier stuff, but it all got dull pretty quick.

Mayhem’s Wolf Lair Abyss Ep is short but brilliant.

Has anyone heard Arcturus’s La Masquerade Infernal? That’s… interesting… ;)

Try: Enthroned - Xes Haereticum, that was released last year.

Most of my favourite Black Metal albums were made in the 90’s though.

no that’s wrong. “zyklon” actually is the eye of a hurricane where all is calm and has exactly nothing to do with zyklon b.

I gladly contributed to your education ;)

and to say something more topic related: check out the mighty dark tranquillity, their most recent release ‘character’ is some kind of a masterpiece.

But actually they’re not a black metal band, but the founders of melodic death.
