Support bands you like

#

Started by White Psycho

What I mean is, who else has gone to see a band and has either been more impressed with the support, or really liked the support as well?

I find out about easyworld when I went to see seafood and bought their mini-album the next day, still love them.

I’m getting into White Light Motorcade too, since that free CD they gave out at T? gigs, got the album and its seems quite good.

Usually 99% support bands suck…

The only good support bands I have seen were with T?, White Light Motorcade and Winnebago Deal. WD is currently my favourite band and have been listening “Dead Gone” a lot.

Oh, we saw HIM under the name Thulsa Doom supporting The 69 Eyes a few years ago… We were at the bar when the support act started with “Wicked Game” and I remember saying that this sounds like HIM and realised immidiately saying that that it IS HIM at the stage. That is the only time I’m glad that we went early to the gig as usually it is really boring to spend time just waiting the head act to appear.

There were a lot of support bands outplaying the main act in my ‘gig career’, e.g. Therapy? opening for Babes In Toyland.

I’ve seen a few good one. But the best two were bands I already liked going in.

Anthrax opening for Maiden
and I saw Suicidal Tendencies twice back in the day. Each time I didn’t even know they were on the bill so I was pleasantly surprised.

The Buzzcocks were okay opening for Pearl Jam. As were Death Cab for Cutie if you like the lighter stuff.

I really loved Skunk Anansie opening T? in ‘94.

Skunk Anansie split up years ago (remember Skin going solo?)

Generally most great bands have started supporting other bands so it’s kind of a useless question. It just depends on when you discover them.

Shes got a solo album out which is quite good… definately not as heavy as Skunk Anansie though, more soulful and indie-lite

I saw British Sea Power support Snow Patrol a couple of years ago (left before the headline act!)

And I saw Idlewild supporting Placebo around ‘97 and they completely blew Placebo off the stage. Idlewild have changed a lot since then :(
