ah; heard the question that you dutch dudes were asked on the computer screen - great fun to hear :)
Well, I guess we don’t join the constitution now, and they will ask us agian in 2 years, in which time we have the chance to see what this thing means in real life.
I’m not sure what you mean by the question on the computerscreen?

What bothered me, and obviously a lot of other voters as well, was the fact that the Dutch politicians seemed to be wanting to push this constitution through our throats, even though the protests were so loud. And also, a referendum should be a simple question, and not some big load of imprehensible bullshit that nobody can understand. At least your prime minister took his responsibility and resigned. Our Harry Potter lookielikie is unmoved and unblamable!
yeah I agree with you,The french politicians behaved the same. But Our _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (Sorry I don’t want the French secret services to be on my back, :D cos some of our politicians are very touchy with that)lookielikie was very unpopular a long time before the vote because of his national policy,so the people who are on a dole because of him wanted to have their revenge by voting No and also it was a pretext to kick him out.

Probably a lot of people just voted no because they did not have a fucking clue what was actually the content of this constitution.
Fair enough.
Of course in Belgium we did not have the chance to say yes or no

The constitution isn’t clear, that’s right. So I guess a lot of people voted no, because of this. Why vote yes for something cloudy, when you know how it is now. And our influence would be less, that’s the main idea.
Yesterday after the verdict Maxime Verhagen (cda, a political god-fearing governmentparty) was asked: did our influence in the EU decrease? He said : I think our influence in Europe increased, because of this strong signal by a pro-european country. This is the same man who tried to move us the last few weeks to vote yes… With other words: they’d sold us out, just like they did with the .
I’ve the feeling that I’ve won, and it feels good…

Hello fishbulb, and a warm welcome from another haagse NO voter. My main reasons to vote ‘tegen’ were numerous. Most of them on contents but I agree that I also wanted to give a signal to our government.
This was the first time we got a chance to say something about the EU and off course we said NO. We got the Euro pushed down our throats, the same with the threaties of Maastricht, Amsterdam and Nice. The political elite should listen more to the people. In our country they still haven’t learned a thing from the debacle in 2002.
I make one exeption and that’s the SP. But when they spoke out their ideas back in the 80’s and 90’s, all other political parties laughed… Yesterday they (we) won.

That’s okay! I introduced the subject myself. And it’s nice to be greeted by so many people on my first thread here!
Balcony? Polar bear? I remember seeing a guy (sometimes in a polar bear mask) freaking out on numerous occasions on the left balcony in het Paard and Paradiso during T? concerts. Any coincidence?

So I see!
Well, over 40… at 40 life begins, people keep telling me.
Are they just nice to me or do they mean I should behave like a grownup?
