Metallica or Megadeth

#

Started by 30seconds

I know this thread has been done before but that was 4 years ago and metallica have released the abysmal St anger since then so…!
I personally would go for megadeth. Songs like Peace sells and holy wars and 99 ways to die are amazing. Metallica are great, who can’t like Master of puppets, But like I said, for me Megadeth are better!

(Before changing the message boards’ software in August 2007 this discussion contained a poll, which may return in the future)

Love them both!

But Metallica are the best ever! I loved St Anger, it was so brutal and unclean. The way rock and roll should be!

I’m not keen on Megadeth at all and never have been, they seem to be stuck in a 1980s metal timewarp. Even their new album covers looks about 20 years old.
I love some Metallica and hate some Metallica. I’m glad GRINNER loved St. Anger, everyone was accused them of selling out, etc, when that came out, but it is a good album, I love Unnamed Feeling.
My favourite stuff of theirs are the Load and Reload albums. I really love One aswell, but Enter Sandman has been played to death everywhere.

In both cases I pretend they stopped making music in 1994.

I’ve always had a sort of underdog love for Megadeth, so I voted for them. Peace Sells hit me like few songs ever have.

Dave Mustaine is a brilliant songwriter (not so much his lyrics but the music), and Megadeth is leagues ahead in terms of experimentation and musical complexity.

Metallica has better hooks though, and is a hell of a lot easier to play.

Regardless both we’re top of the heap creatively in the late 80s.

They need to reform the original lineup. Kirk Hammet is played out as a guitarist (his solos haven’t been cutting edge since And Justice for All). Throw Dave back in with James and Lars and see what would happen. Maybe they can reinvent the genre like they did in 1982.

Metallica all the way, baby. It must eat Mustaine up inside that for the first 15 years of Megadeth’s career he got asked questions about his time in Metallica in every goddamn interview.

Whats wrong with megadeath, they’re more recent albums are alot better than Metallica have released in the last 10 years. Megadeaths new stuff is almost brilliant as it was back in the 80’s. Metallica are now just a (excellent-it has to be said) greatest hits band! I doubt they will in the future be anything more than just a greatest hits band judging by St anger, reload etc..

I think Megadeths latter albums have been abysmal -

I have only ever listened to World Needs a Hero once all the way through and once again to track 3 - it is utter bollocks and not worthy of the Megadeth name… Havent even bothered with the last one…

Motopsycho? I’ll take Load and Reload any day - there is a fantastic albums worth of material between them.

Have you not listened to the system has failed, its alot better than st anger and load put together!!! St anger had about 2 good tracks on it which aren’t even worthy enough to get on the Metallica set list anymore!!
