just a thought that has crossed my mind lately:
after hearing t? live after martin’s departure, i can feel that something’s missing - but i’m not sure if it’s another guitar / cello but maybe a keyboard.
ever thought how t? could’ve sound with a keyboard player?

I was in a band, well, duo thing, with a keyboard player. NIN kind of stuff. Before I heard him play, I thought keyboards only belonged in 80s pop-synth bollocks, but he was actually really good and he wrote some dark sounding stuff.
For that kind of band it’s fine, but not for Therapy?

I saw T? the gig after Martin ill/left and to be honest I felt that they were BACK! I dont know why but I think they were always ment to be a three piece (live anyway). Fyfe’s drumming was so original I think they may not of made it after he left if not for the extra guitar. Thankfully Neil fills both holes excellently and the first time I heard NANE the drumming stood out for the first time in years. Keyboards could be a grin! Id like T? to cover Madonnas ‘Like a prayer’, a nice gentle start with keyboards to put the elderly at ease then the joyous crashing of guitars. Could be interesting.

I’m with Dust on this. No keyboards. Keyboards are for pussies. Not for Heavy Metal Pussies ;)

I think that after Martin’s depature the whole thing came “together”. I was really worried about the direction the band would have gone but if they keep doing albums like NANE, we’re sailing in the crystal clear waters…

well,
as for the relation of keyboards and rock bands i think you guys are wrong - i know lots of heavy metal / rock / punk band that use keyboars and it sounds and looks great.
i mean, if you liked martin playing cello on alost every song (i’m talking 1995-1998) than you should also like the keyboard that can do cello and many other things as well.
and besides, i’m not so sure how many of you aware to the fact that almost all t? songs the were recorded in the studios (including recent albums) with keyboards (not only - bass-drums-guitars)

I can only hear keyboards at the end of Church Of Noise. Could you be more specific where we can hear the keys? I though that only Iron Maiden has keyboard-player behind the curtains… ;)

Don’t get me wrong as I absolutely love the cello stuff but can’t even imagine band with keyboards. I personally think that if T? would add keyboardist to the band, that would RUIN the whole thing. T? IS drums-guitar-bass-band and with the keyboards they will turn into the band that sounds like Europe (no offence Robby, couldn’t make up any other cheesy-keyboard-band :D ).

Oh and if that happens that Therapy? takes a fourth member into the band just to play keyboards, I will donate my whole T? collection to the first one that calls me… :p

when i say keyboard, i don’t mean piano (though you have to admit you would love to hear SAFE live, right?) or sound like the organ (80’s / europe), i’m talking about lots of efx on the background, cello, more Faith No More background kind of sound the would make the picture a whole, not as the main thing - that would ofcorse be the guitar, but i think a keyboard would add more “colour”

is there anything more rcok then Sir Elton John and his piano? ;)

i’m quite sure that if you give keyboards to T? they would still make them rock and they would make them to look as a proper heavyfuckingmetal stuff.

That’s just a the finishing off of the record, that can’t be compared with a 4th member who’s actually playing keyboards live. Therapy? is best as a 3-piece in my opinion.
I was chocked like most on here when I hear Martin left, but I didn’t like the cello’s in Isolation, and I was tired of that Diane version they used to play back then. Martin was good, but Therapy? doesn’t need him, and neither do they need a keyboardplayer!

and those special effects… aren’t they done by computers instead of keyboards… pff, what’s the difference anyway… :)

I want the next tour to feature a grand piano in the middle of the stage, and instead of a conventional seat it can have half a harley davidson… and Mike can stand on the top of the piano playing bass whilst smoking a cig and wearing a top hat… and Andy can wear a kilt!

that would rock
