Anybody hate green day? Everywhere I look I see or hear green day. They’re not even good. Even I could pen american idiot! And possibtc.ly the worse thing is, they call themselves punk! Punk is not green day. Punk is sham 69, the clash, the ramones etc…
Here is proof that the British people have gone mad

Is it only me that hates them and their music?
Oh and their new one is possibly the worst song i’ve ever heard…along with the crazy frog

I think that they have some great tunes like “Good Riddance”, “When I Come Around”. Haven’t heard much of American Idiot though.

My vote in that top30 would have gone to Teenage Kicks or Smells Like Teen Spirit and I don’t think that both of them are punk…

That was the last but one Operation Ivy show and guess who was also on the bill?

I can’t stand those people thinking that being successful is not compatible with being punk.

It’s not punk. Punk is dead. Green Day and the rest is just beating the rotting corpse of punk long after its demise. Sometimes they beat it well though, sometimes not so well.

Not even close to beeing in his mother’s womb, if you check the profile.

anyway, I’m not a big fan of green day myself but saw them perform live on a festival last week and have to admit that they pulled off one of the best rock shows if ever witnessed. sorry.

They have been getting progressivly worse their whole careers (except ‘Insomniac’, which is their best album). American Idiot is a terrible album, but they were once very good. Plus, like it or not, they do put on one hell of a show live, and have done their entire careers.

I agree, I also think they’re overhyped these days

I think mr Zappa got a song called that you just have to change punk for Jazz!;)

I’ve no problems with green day I gave up on them before nimrod came out but i saw them at reading in 2001 and they put on such a good fun show that it was hard to hate them, and i saw them on this tour and they do rock.

I think Strung Out’s Exile in Oblivion proves you wrong.

I’m sure Pennywise’s new one this summer will as well.

But I agree there’s a ton out there labeled punk which need to be shot and buried quickly!!
(Good Charlotte toping the hit list)

I think Green Day are a great band - 3 guys making good songs… no matter how much the media hypes them I dont see how it is their fault.

People seem to get hung up on labels - at the end of the day there is good music and shit music…

Like Fnyakez said - there are bands like GC, bowling for soup etc that are seriously fucking bad… I hardly think Green Day deserve to be lumped in with that

I dont like them that much, but i used to be a big fan… as i got older i realised there were better bands around.

One reason why theyre bad: Boulevard of broken dreams. what an awful song.

But their first two albums particularly Slapp happy, i think are quite good.

I doubt the band sit around flicking through magazines and deciding whether it is a ‘cool’ enough publication to appear in… that wouldn’t be punk either would it?

Labels and/or management look after that shit - and no label in their right mind would turn down exposure.

So only pre-pubescent schoolgirls read it, which means they wont buy their records anyway - they will just steal them of the interweb… so its not really selling out is it? :D

It just depends on the age. People who were 13-18 when they’ve heard Basket Case for the first definitely voted for this song. Who was 13-18 in the late the 70’s-early 80’s voted for The Untertones or The Clash.
