1st day of school

#

Started by marja (sinner)

Today I’m starting the new music lessons year in a new school, and believe it or not, even at 24, I’m still nervous as hell about this.

Please tell me what are the worst things that happened to you when you were somewhere for the first time

Well,I usually get lost when I arrive in a place for the first time,I always search for the right room that I’m supposed to go for example,And such as you,i’m a little bit nervous, and stressed when I talk to the people there for the first time too,I’m,in a way paralysed and It’s so hard to pronounce a word and at last, there’s a bad feeling growing in you when the people want to make you repeat what you’ve just said cos’ they haven’t understood you.

that will probably happen because I have a very different accent than where I live now. Oh hell, now I’m even more nervous.

Oh sorry I didn’t want you to be in such a state.Just be cool and relax when you are over there. After all, these are just music lessons not Maths or Chemistry lessons.Myself,I Had been taking guitar Lessons for ten years,The teachers were nice( but in the end,We shouted to each other because we didn’t agree about a rythmn to play,So I shut the door violently and never came back).Hope your teachers will be nice so.

My first day at my first job (that is my current job actually), I walked in, nobody knew I was coming, nobody knew what I had to do… my boss wasn’t there and he didn’t warn my colleagues.
They all looked so weird, I can’t believe I got used to them, well, to most of them… there still or some weirdos. I had the feeling I ended up in the cast of “De Collega’s” (an old flemmish tv-series)
They all looked like typical civil servants… well that’s what they are, but I never saw so many of them in real live…and now I’m one myself … oh yeah, go ahead, have a good laugh… I’m used to it :o
I couldn’t understand them very well as I’m from the very north of the country, and (I’m working in the West, Ghent). The first thing they asked me was “Are you from Antwerp?” Every single on of them… Oh well, most of them. What the hell is wrong with my A’s… they’re still laughing with it after 5 and a half year…

But hey, you’ll do just fine… I guess your first day with your former colleague was a lot worse than this will be!!! :p

Not as bad as you with gent.

The collegas, one of the classical series in Belgium. Together with de Kampioenen, my all time favourites :)

I went to my daughter’s friend’s house for the first time the other day. It took me over an hour to realise they’d only invited her, not me :o

In the last 2 weeks I’ve had my first driving lesson, started my first job and started a new course (in music technology, if anyone’s interested)… even the bad things that happen are usual fine when you look back on it- and although something might go wrong, you can’t really do anything about it until afterward, so there’s no need to be worrying about things…

well the lesson on friday was a bit strange. First of all I didn’t know where to go, so I asked somebody and I think I was impolite because he was realy annoyed when he finally showed me the room. Don’t know what I said to piss him off, but I couldn’t care less.

Then the room was filled with 12 or 13 year old teenagers. I tought: oh crap, he sent me to the wrong room, but in fact it was the right one. Apparently it’s adults and kids mixed. This not a good thing. The teacher is a mixture of a friendly nun and a nice grandmother, this is ok, but it will certainly bring down the entertainement value

then on saturday it was better. The new piano teacher is realy young and looks ok, so that’s nice :). And I got to pick the time for my lessons myself, so it suits me just fine.

So all in all, it was quite ok. Not that frightening as I tought it would be

That would be really strange sat in a class with a load of kids…

saying that - when I was 18yrs old doing my A-Levels at college, I was once made to take my desk in the corridor and work outside the classroom because I kept talking all the time. Not my greatest moment :)

Will you get detention if you misbehave?

When I came for the interview for this job I got, I waited an our in the railway-station in the middle of nowhere, ´cos they promised someone to come and pick me up. I tried to call hundred times but no answer. It was nearly -20C outside and there was no place to go inside. Finally the boss answered. They forgot I was coming… That is how much they wanted me, I guess.
