The Cure, anyone?…

Myself being a long time fan of The Cure, I thought that seeing as they have had a bit of press recently (well, bear in mind, it is The Cure, so not really much press, a few mentions in a couple of shady music papers) I would ask what other people think of them? Be nice please..

Wish is one of my favourite albums of all time - I haven’t really listened to their more recent stuff though. I got Wild Mood Swings but rarely play it.

Wish is a good album. He he he, yes Hooch, Wild Mood Swings was awful. It was a good idea for you not to listen to it. I don’t know what they were thinking with that one. Bloodflowers (the most recent album, 2001) was good though. Anyway, my fave 5 Cure albums are:

1. Pornography
2. The Top
3. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
4. Wish
5. Bloodflowers

I know anyone who likes The Cure is meant to like Disintegration but i don’t rate that one too highly.

opalmatra: boy’s don’t cry was an appalling album! 17 seconds was okay, and as previously stated i don’t know why everyone likes disintegration. but each to their own i suppose. thanks for the reply

Because Disintegration has amazing songs?
Does that count? :D

You can’t discuss taste…
There are probably people who love Wild Mood Swings.

2 reasons to love disintegration: prayers for rain & disintegration.

The Cure are one of my most favourite bands in the world. I love Disintegration but the Wish album is my favourite. Pornography is good too. ‘Friday I’m In Love’ is a beautiful song and I adore ‘Lovesong’. I could spend my whole life doing nothing but listen to Robert Smith and I wouldn’t feel I’d missed out on anything.

penn: yeah i have the trilogy DVD. if you like those albums it is fantastic. it also has “if only tonight we could sleep” and “the kiss” from kiss me, kiss me, kiss me on it as encores. there’s also about a half hour of interviews with all of the band individually (which to be honest, isn’t all that interesting). but it’s a good DVD. i must point out however that the packaging leaves a lot to be desired. xxx

For the record, Boys Don’t Cry is my favourite Cure album (although I really need Faith soon).

Yes, it’s true that The Cure is an important band since 80’s. If you don’t like them, you cannot to tell they’re bad.
Personally, I’m a very big fan of the Cure.
Each of all Cure’s album is very interesting, of a sonic point of view.
Their sound, their melodies make this band very singular.
I like and I listen to all these albums. It’s all depend of my mood. Even Wild Mood Swing. This is particular because, I don’t know why, I started to listen to it 4 or 5 years after bought it. I was driving towards the sea, the weather was good, the sun was shinning, and I felt the album was very cool. Since, I think it’s a very good album.
The acoustic guitar parts are very very interesting for the melody and sound. Eletric guitar and guitar bass too. Jason Cooper, the new drumer of this period has bringged some “new blood”.

Nevertheless, my fave ones are 17 seconds, faith, pornography, kiss me, disintegration, bloodflower. The Cure is good too. The rest is some The Cure.

The Cure is my all time favorite band. I’ve seen them 9 times so far. My nickname comes from one of their greatest songs, called Lament. I’m also an administrator on the site http://www.foreverdrowning.com. Please feel free to visit the site :)

If you’re looking for an album to start discovering The Cure, I suggest The Head On The Door from 1985.
