It’s hard to say they are certainly more energetic but there are a few songs that drag out a bit to long. But i do think it has a slight edge.

Isn’t the live at Donington DVD taken from the same gig as their Live CD?

Sort of and sort of no. The live CD is made up of songs recorded at different gigs all round the world. But i do think quite a few of the songs are from the donnington gig

I was home last week, and because I’ve got such great great friends who remembered my 30th, my music DVD collection has just swelled with:

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - God Is In The House
Queen - On Fire: Live At The Bowl
Alice In Chains - Unplugged
Rage Against The Machine - Live At The Olympic Auditorium

And they all rock, especially the Nick Cave one.

They have been long term residents on my ‘must buy’ list. Which remind me, I must buy…

The Mission (UK) will release a live-DVD in the near future. That should be awesome as I’ve never seen them live…yet.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but there appears to be an Audioslave set on the way.

It’s a full gig live in Cuba (featuring Soundgarden & Rage songs), a bonus dvd of videos and a documentary, plus there’s an audio cd with some session tunes on it.

Looks interesting.

The next Pixies DVD is a concert at a french festival’s called ‘Les Eurockéennes de Belfort’, this summer 2004.
This is called ‘SELL OUT’.

Otherwise,it’s a very big festival like Werchter, in eastern France.
Some very important bands like NIN, Radiohead… play there.

It’s interesting to see the played-attitude difference between their 2 live DVD (I mean ‘PIXIES 1988’ & ‘SELL OUT 2004’).

Thanks for the warning, I’ll be sure to avoid the music DVD section of my local record store for the next few months.

Vaguely familiar is all I’ve allowed myself to become. I saw a live show where they built a wall between them and the audience and thought, “you pricks”.

fair enough. they can be a tad pretentious. i’m not going to win here am i? all the predominately roger waters era is great though (“DSOTM” up until “the final cut”). i don’t like the syd barrett stuff as it’s all drug induced hippy nonsense. i started an argument here and i lost. dammit. typical me, typical me, typical me. :)

but “the wall” is a classic album.

Hah hah hah :p

As for Barrett - that photo of him from a few years ago is quite amusing :)

every now and then in the cambridge evening news (our local rag down here) there’s a sighting of syd barrett and it always goes along the lines of “former pink floyd frontman syd barrett was spotted recently looking like a mad bald nutter, when spoken to barrett went crazy mad and insisted he never had anything to do with things pink, floyd or otherwise”. it’s always amusing to read but also quite sad at the same time.

Watched the Alec Empire DVD I bought at the gig. It has the worst production I’ve ever seen (lousy editing, the music doesn’t match with the visuals etc.) but still cool.

It was filmed in 2001 and he looks completely fucked on drugs. Literally half dead. He’s sorted himself out though as he seemed in fine health at the gig the other day.

Well he quite obviously did back in 2001. My mate also reckons he’s on steroids.
