I saw them in Birmingham at the end of last year…

Have to say I was pretty disappointed - and this is coming from someone who considers the current line-up to be the one and only line-up.

All their albums of the last 10/ 15 years or so have been great, but their live sound was f*ckin’ awful.

:) whaddua mean with “awful livesound”; was it too low or was it distorted…? As I saw them in Ruisrock festival here in Finland last summer, the gig was great but they had some problems with monitors but the guys played really well:)
I have one recording from the last autumn tour in UK: Colston Hall, Bristol on 18th of nov and I must say that it kicks ass! Inferno songs and the couple of songs from APD among the other classics work very well:)
As long Lemmy is standing there and shouthing to the microphone, I´m satisfied…
See U there all fellow headbangers and womBlers:)!

Oops, bit of a long time to reply, only just seen your post..Sorry!

The live sound was crap purely because it was badly mixed. Most of all you could hear the drums, specifically the bass drums, which overpowered everything else. Then came the bass - Yup very important for most bands, bloody essential for Motorhead - but not on its own! In fact, bass and drums apart, everything else was a strain to hear. Phil Campbell may as well have been playing Abba medleys all night for all I could make out of his solos and Lemmy’s vocals were hard to pick pout too..

You’re quite right regardless of Lemmy’s sexuality whatever it is he’s a fucking legend! And Motorhead are a great band. When i first saw the hoax article i wasn’t sure about it but i thought i’d post it anyway to see what other people thought.

I just have a Motorhead compilation CD but i was wondering which are their best albums to buy?

:) I recommend to buy “Ace of spades” album at first cause it´s a real classic! I remember listening to it for days back in 1980 as a kid, just couldn´t get enough of that…:)
Then get the 1981 “No sleep til Hammersmith” live album; best live album ever made!
Oh, shit; buy the whole backcatalogue at the same time:)!
The weakest album of them is “Hammered” I think, and it´s not shit after all.
The latest “Inferno” 2004, is like a “getting back to their roots” thinga.
Loved MH years before T? and I still love that band, their music and “fuck off!” attitude Lemster has!
