Power ballads

#

Started by stoon

I note that Andy Cairns recently turned 40. With age, I wonder will he now mellow and fill the next Therapy? album with soft-rock power ballads?

He could even do a love song for his kid, in the manner of ‘Beautiful Boy’ by John Lennon.

Wouldn’t that be great?

A cover of Mr. Misters “take these broken wings” prehaps?

Just the thought of it gives me ‘the horn’ :D

Apparently an early demo of God Kicks sounded a little bit like a power ballad but they scrapped the idea and went off to the woods to record it.

Feeder - wow, thats surprising! I don’t want any ballads on Therapy? records - they are good at them (Six mile water for example) but i wanna mosh!

The new album is probably going to be heavy, no need for ballads then. Maybe the kid drives him nuts, so it will be heavy!

Ah yes, I was merely jesting. The campaign for the Therapy? cover of ‘Love lift Us Up Where We Belong’ starts here!

By the way, I think Beautiful Boy is John Lennon’s shittest song and if Feeder have covered it then I pour scorn over them. A full pint of scorn.

Power ballads, oh yeah!!!!

I wanna see Andy with a mullet, singing on top of a cliff. And I want excessive use of the word ‘baby’, and preferably how he’d die for his ‘baby’.

Power ballads are amazing. There’s a guy called Stan Bush (who did the music on the transformers movie) that writes the best ones. Makes you want to climb a mountain and beat up a dragon.

ANd that’s something everyone should experience once in their lifetimes. :D Stan Bush, is he the one that did ‘The Touch’? Man, that was cheesy.

It is indeed. In my book he’s a musical genius to rank alongside David Hasselhoff.
