Number of posts on profiles?

How come I keep noticing what looks like errors on people profiles? Like where is says the number of posts that person has made, some peoples just stay the same. One guy’s says 99 next to all of his posts.

I don’t get it.

Also, I noticed another guy has 99 posts, and it never goes up.

Just wondered why, because the number of posts can influence how people converse with each other (heirarchies etc), and if this number is being manipulated then it seems a bit strange.
