I’ve got two, a Faded which is my workhorse, and an SG-Classic w/ P-90s.

SGs have quickly have become my favorte. Not too heavy, necks not to thick, the tone is broad enough that you can play just about every style with them..

Indeed, I look for my new guitar. I in front of a few choices : a used Fender Telesonic, a SG Gibson & a LP Gibson.
I’ve ever got a Telecaster and I love its sound, with a Marschall amp.
With the same amp the both Gibson interest me a lot.
My feeling is rather LP. Certainly because of its look. Because Gibson sound is really unique.
Indeed, when I play with a Gibson, I think I play better, as well. I feel myself different. I don’t know why. Maybe sound, shape, weight. :p

yep, know what you mean. Les Pauls have the weight and thickness. Although they look evil as shit, the SG neck never really suited my style of playing… sorry lads hehe

The Les Pauls are by far the most comfortable to play while standing. Even though they way a ton, the weight is distributed nicely, and the guitars hang nice and low at the hip, so you can stretch out your picking arm, but the fretboard is center so you don’t have to reach for it.

The SGs aren’t bad, strats are nice as well.

I didn’t like playing my Tele standing up, the bridge tended to hang in the middle of my body and the neck stuck way out. I ended up getting rid of it.

hmmm, dilema…
Ive got 2 les pauls, an sg and a tele…
Les pauls weigh a tonne, but they “sustain for days” and you can get some real nice tones out of them. The sg is a much lighter, raspier version. The neck often makes it feel a bit weird when standing up.The tele..is a very twangy sounding thing, but I modified mine a bit(hehehehhe) I routed out the bridge and put some seymour duncan “Dime buckers” in there!!!Cos the tele is easy to play its great for riffin with the “buckers” (>METAL!< or a pickin style. I dunno the choice is youirs, Id get out there and borrow some off your mates or spend many hour in the shop trying them out.I depends what you wanna play too

I’d love an SG, I have a Les Paul (tuned to C) and it sounds awesome through my V-Amp, but I’d love an SG for that authentic Therapy? sound…

I may have to sell a kidney…

I have a 1979 SG Deluxe… lovely overdriven pickup sound… real beefy. My Dad thought it was a 1959.. then we found out how much they were worth, and we decided to check and make sure… and it wasn’t, unfortunatly. We could have done with another house!

I often find tieing a piece of string on my foot, to the bottom strap lock does the trick.Thats why angus young does that funny walk on stage with his SG.Works like a charm

Well, i got an ESP viper, so it’s a wonky enlarged SG, and comfier than any les paul ive ever played as it has the more rounded body and weigh significantly less wihtout compromising tone thanks to the EMG’s

I’ve got a Gibson SG, cherry red, ‘93 I think. Seeing Andy playing an SG and listening to the Troublegum album made me what one and finally in 1996 I could afford a secondhand one. Boy, I was one proud 18-year-old I can tell you. :D

Title: Washburn SG copy 1980

I have a 1980 Washburn SG copy, brass fittings, sunburst. still sounds fantastic. Had it Brought in 1990, for my 18th Birthday present. Death will drag it from my cold lifeless corpse before I ever part with it. They dont make them like that any more. ( not for any reasonable price anyway )

I have a Gisbon Gothic SG, the black matt finish one. It was made in 2000, i think. Bought it in Seattle at a very good price. If any of you are going to America on holiday be sure to get a guitar there as you will save a fortune.

i have a red epiphone SG. i love the look and the sound of the SGs, though the neck going down can be a pain sometimes when playing gigs.
i played about 20 gigs with it and used it for some recording.

i also own a squier strat, which was my first guitar, a martinez dsh700, which is a fine guitar (strat-shaped) with a massive sound (and you can shape the sound for every music-style you want to play) but it’s just too heavy for playing gigs.

so my prefered guitar at the moment is my ibanez axs-32, which is rather LP-shaped but with double-cutaway (like the SG) and not as heavy. it has a really great thick sound cause it has thru-body-stringing … i’m really satisfied with it. and it looks killer!

regards to the Epiphone being neck-heavy - Does anyone know if the Gibson ones are the same? I mean, I know the whole Gibson/ Epiphone link, before anyone points it out, I just wondered if the Gibson ones are any better…?

I guess then that it’s just down to the 24 fret neck and the relatively thin body (compared to a Les Paul).

Great guitars though. Definitely on my “must buy when I win the Lottery” list.

Just above “speedboat” but below “Cadbury’s Chocolate factory”
