I have to say lifeblood is very good! What are everyones opinion on it? Yes, the lyrics aren’t particuarly relevant like the Richey edwards period, but the music is great. It is certainly better than know your enemy and slightly better this is my truth (which I have now).
The music is the most exciting stuff they have done since 96 and the production job on the album is fantastic.
In my opinion Stand out tracks are 1985, empty souls, to repel ghosts, I live to fall asleep and cardiff afterlife.
I think alot of manics fans are living in the past (fair enough, it was there best period), but they need to embrace the new manics sound and accept it for what it is, a good collection of songs, and it still beats most acts these days amyway.
Afterall, Therapy?s best period was mid nineties as well, but without their fans accepting their newer sound for what it is, they wouldnt be around!
I’m, not saying people should definately like the album, because everyone has an opinion, but they should just accept this is the new sound of the manics and stop putting them down becasue they aren’t releasing albums like they have done before.

So anyway what does everyone think about lifeblood? :p

Lifeblood is their most consistent album for a while.

Musically, they seem to have found a niche that fits their current state of mind better than peddling the old angsty-punky attitude would, although on listening to it, it does seem a little like they are trying to rewrite the same song over and over and still not quite getting it where they want it… (listening to the B sides just makes this seem even more so).

Having said that, nothing on Lifeblood really matches the best of Know Your Enenmy, a much-maligned album. Whilst there was a serious lack of direction, and some really duff tracks (So Why So Sad ranks as one of their worst singles ever - and some of their worst songs have been released as singles, let’s not forget), KYE had highlights, such as found That Soul, that knock the socks off anything on Lifeblood.

I saw them on the Lifeblood tour (think that makes it 8 or 9 times now I’ve seen them) and although I wasn’t expecting much, I have to admit they were on form.

I’ll download that later even though it might not be very good.

I just downloaded it and it’s not as bad as Failure Bound, a B-side Nicky did.As a free download it’s ok but i wouldn’t buy it.

If the rest of Nicky’s solo album is like this then the critics will probably crucify him but i don’t think he’s the type to care.

Apparently the next MSP album will be ‘glamtastic guitars’.

I imagine it’ll be like the rockier moments of Know Your Enemy but better produced but i think i might have outgrown the Manics.It’ll have to pretty special for me to get interested in them again.

I don’t think the rough production suits that song,it would have sounded better if it had been produced like There By The Grace Of God or The Love Of Richard Nixion and lost the braindead motherfuckers bit.

They haven’t made a REALLY good album in years so I won’t hold my breath…

I think Lifeblood has some of their best songs ever ie 1985, Empty Souls, Live to Sleep, Solitude…, and their worst ever stuff - Emily, Fragments, Richard Nixon which has to be their worst single EVER! Thats even worse than So Why So Sad!

for me,most songs on lifeblood are just going nowhere…especially “I live to fall asleep” - all i can say to that song is - the title fits perfectly.
