Therapy? Best Guitar/Song Moments?

#

Started by fatriff

Well,I want to share my fav Therapy? guitar/song parts. As we all know..Therapy? are big on riffage.Therapy? for me know how to add a big ass riff into a song.To me Therapy? are on a different level to most other bands out there.

Okay… here’s a few…

Die like a mother fucker… Time 1.05 to 1.58…This didn’t grab me at 1st but the more you hear it the more ass it kicks. The riff over the very heavy bass line is amazing.Have you ever heard such a monster sounding low bass in any other therapy? song? Parts of this remind me of early Machine Head.

Heaven’s Gate… This whole album is seriously underated,The style might have changed on this album but what a great playing style! This whole entire song is like one big bag of riffage.I’ve also noticed that no bugger online has tabbed it.

Ten Year Plan… 1.55 to 3.10.This is killer! What pulls this one off for me is the drumming during this.

If I get a few mins I’ll add some more..

Feel free to add your own favs..

T? Have an album called Heavens Gate? eh?

Best moments for me has to be Rust for the HUGE bass riff that Michael brings it back in with…definately a Beavis and Butthead YES! moment!

Dead is cool as fuck too, i feel dirty after listening to it..in a good way! esp when it goes into the uplifting melodic bit in the middle.

:)

I have another… The riff in the middle of ‘Stay Happy’ is also one of my favs.I didn’t mean they have an album called Heavens Gate in my last post.. It’s a song from Semi Detached.

The guitar in bad karma is one of my favs, the final of polar bear too, the tune of teethgrinder and he’s not that kind of girl is also a killer riff. Oh and stalk and slash too, pfff there are too many good riffs to name them all.

Stalk and slash makes good use of Dropped D tuning

If only all Drop D riffs were that good.

Instead of every metal band just going 0-1-0-0-2

The Joy Division sounding riff on This Ship Is Sinking is top, and a top solo as well.

i love the intro to “tightrope walker” when the drums kick in. I love the intro to “teethgrinder” as well when it stops and THAT riff starts. Genius. My fave thing about T? though is that “troublegum” is so relentless, hardly a breath between tracks.

Or that weird bit on ‘Polar Bear’ where before it picks up to its frantic instrumental riffage at the end of the song it has the guitar ring out while the bass keeps playing the main riff in the background and then you these really quick split second scratch noises - love it!
Have to find out where abouts on the track that appears.

Oh fuck it pretty much every therapy? song

Good point about drop-d riffs, t? are the only band i know that kept doing original stuff in that format.

Unbeliever, church of noise, hes not that kind of girl, i am the money, stalk and slash.

ooooh, sooooo many but:

bridge of If It Kills Me, great reworking of the main riff

bass part on the chorus of Dead, its just the guiatr solo but is full of tone and power and fits perfectly under the guitar.

Diane, amazing song with no guitar

intro of Misery, the guitar sounds soooo trashy and raw

Stories - main riff is genius, sepcailly with the cello noises underneath

solo from Save The Sermon - its pure Nirvana meets Helmet yet really original and obscure

and the followig just have great riffs:

Rock You Monkeys
Polar Bear
Church Of Noise
I Am The Money
Gimme back My Brain
Turn
Nowhere
Rust
Perish The Thought
Opal Mantra

and of course the solo on Unbeliever, just cos i adore Helmet and Page Hamilton is truly a Guitar god ;)

I am seeing some good remarks about the songs here.

I love the ending of Limbo, how the bass comes on top of all the other parts.
The part of 30 seconds with the lyrics:”How did we get from the blue lamp disco to cracking up in San Francisco
I look at myself in a sober light, I’m not Elvis but I’m alright”, is truly a resting place in the song, but still keeps the pace.
Offcourse the complete intro of Straight Life. Which, in my mind, is a two parter split by “Fucker”. ( The whole song is freakin’ genius)
The female vocals (Eileen Rose) in Femtex.
In Dance the part from +-2:50 until the ending, I love the extra couplet and solo.
