Personal Jesus.

Started by suicidalmaniac

Hey there. I had an fight with my friend recently, who claims that T? covered Personal Jesus (?!) which, as we all know, IS NOT TRUE. However, I’m posting a track that he claims are T? (?!) which he recorded from some obscure radio show. I’m trying to persuade him in believeing that IT IS NOT THERAPY?, and also, to mend his wrong ways :) Also, I would be grateful if any of you good souls would tell me what the hell that is?

So, check it out here:

Don’t really think it sounds like Gravity Kills, although the electronica would fit.

Quite like it actually! Good cover!

Hmmm… It’s definitely NOT Johny Cash, nor is it Marylin Manson, David Gogo and Lollipop Lust Kill I have never heard of, as for Gravity Kills… hm hm hm… Not sure if it’s the type of vocals we got here. Hm.

Have to agree with you, again, it DOES sound like Andy here and there. And then again it’s not GRAVITY KILLYS vocals, but as for electronica… hm. It must be something else then.

It Is good. Listeng to it right now and humming away :)

It also could be the Lolli Pop Lust persons.
I just checked the track Jesus Chrysler, and the voices seem to match a lot better :)

It is kind of White Zombie singing, and they seem to have different vocalists.

The track rocks (original does too).

Damn! I believed they split! And I believed I got all their albums :D Well, it’s good to see they put a new (?!) album out. And it seems that all the tracks are sung in French. well, I guess I’ll skip that one. And yes, there is a Personal Jesus. Guess they could be the ones we’re looking for.

True, true… My No One Is Inocent all-time-fave is NOMENKLATURA. It may sound nice even if I don’t understand a thing. Well, unlike German bands! Ha hah… :P

Hi SuicidalManiac,

Their new album is called “Révolution.com”, there is a live one too called “live 2005”.

On stage, we can tell they boost.

I’ve read you come from Croatia, so I suppose the closer shops to home I know are “FNAC” :

Italia ==> http://www.fnac.com/redir/ext.asp?url=http://www.fnac.it?Origin=FnacAff

Greece ==> http://www.fnac.com/redir/ext.asp?url=http://www.fnac.gr?Origin=FnacAff

You illegaly can download them on emule.com ; kaaza.com ; soulseek.com. (Yes, downloading is illegal in France. All the politicians fuck us with that - but they can not imagine that when we do that we just tast it, try it… And when/if we like/love, anyway we buy original editons).

Well-haired, well-perfumed politics…Sod most of them off I said.

Well, thank you for all the info! I really like NO ONE IS INNOCENT, I bought they 1st and 2nd record, and I believed they’ve split. Nevermind, I managed to download thir cover of Personal Jesus - and that’s the one! That’s the one we were looking for! So, thank you again. I’ll try and get the rest, but I don’t know how long it’ll take.

Also, I noticed that majority, 90% of the tracks on REVOLUTION.COM are on French?! Is it a good or a bad sign?! :)

I disagree,most of french bands who sing in english sound well. That could be convincing for some french ears.
The main problem is there aren’t knew band a lot whose some one gave them their chance. If you know “Les thugs”, here is a very famous french punk band who just sings in english. They’ve toured hugely in USA, and they’ve received all the favours of americans (It’s not too bad…).
Another famous band is “Noir Désir” ; sometimes you can feel the french accent but they sound perfectly I think.
“Burning heads” and “Seven hates” sing in english too. “Treponem Pal” too. I used to forget “AIR”.

Whatever, I’m very curious to know what english spoken people think about french bands singing in english , how is their feeling ? [come on, thx]. I don’t talk about belgium bands.

About french lyrics, it’s quite often about politic but I love 2 artits who talk about love or introspection with a lot of talent ; I qualify their writing as the work of Charles Beaudelaire. I want to talk about “Noir Désir” and “Alain Bashung”. Pure masterpiece.
These two ones know to do some music with words. It’s very difficult. It’s ‘da summum’,The height.
Indeed, for our french ears, english language is naturaly fluid and musical. For example, the alphabetical letter ‘r’ is always well-used in english lyrics, and this at any place in a text. English accent is pleasant to listen to.
In french, it’s more complicated to use this letter. We need the associated sound with, if not it is not inevitably well. Obviously, it’s all depend of the musical style.

If you want to send me some lyrics from No One… songs you like, do it, I’ll try to translate them in english for you quickly. You’ll be able to form an opinion of their state of mind.
Cheers.
