right - this nearly started a punch up last nite. what are the lyrics to sting’s englishman in new york. i was adamant (still am) that it’s “i’m an alien, i’m a legal alien, i’m an englishbastard in new york”. they were sayin it’s illegal alien. i pointed out that they wouldn’t be an illegal alien, and the fact there isn’t enough syllables in the damn thing. thoughts…

I thought it was evil alien. You bastards. I’ll still sing it my way!

Hypermania - “how long have you had those socks?”

Should be “thoughts” of course. And it wasn’t me, it was a pal of mine.

Just looked at the Perversonality lyrics and apparently the chorus is ‘Rewind My Mind’.

It doesn’t sound anything like that!
Sounds like ‘I’m in pain!’ to me.

Anyone agree?!

Not exactly misheard lyrics, more a case of a misheard song … I was listening to a compilation CD today of stuff from years ago, and one of the tracks was ‘Leader of the Pack’ by the Shangri Las. I have heard that song about a million times over the years, but saw it in a new light when my partner (who never listens to that sort of stuff) asked “What the f**k is a guy with a motorbike doing lurking outside a candy store?”. It got slightly worse as I listened on and realised that the girl dumped the “leader of the pack” because her dad told her to, which in my experience would suggest she was about 12. I don’t think I will ever listen to it again now, which is probably not a bad thing.

in that kate nash song about those cracks in the foundation, I always thought she sang “I must admit I was a biscuit”. i thought that it must be an expression, you never know with these silly english. But now I learned that it’s “i was a bit scared”. I preferred the biscuit though

Great song though. Have played that many a time at work. The edited version of course, cos the swearing wouldn’t go down to well with our restaurant customers.

I was gonna download the whole album but iTunes had every song listed as “explicit”, fucking selfish bitch. :D

Misheard lyrics:

In Suede’s Animal Nitrate, it says something like:

“he said, he’d show you his bed and the delights of the chemical smile”

but my brother thought it said

“and would you like some mechanical snow”

Which, I am sure you’ll agree, is much better. Mind, my brother once penned lyrics himself, such as “Cack Orgy” and “Kylie’s Backstreat Brainsurgery”

@Dennis - you’re right, but when I think about it the English weren’t much better. Who can forget the immortal lines in Smokie’s ‘Oh Carol’:
“She said I’m not 16 if you know what I mean, so we sat and we talked for a while, but when we finally kissed you know she didn’t resist and I must say she did it with style”

Is it just me or did the lyrics listed for Perversonality on the site once say : ‘Oh my hate’ , near sure it did?
Dont see why they would change mind you
