Do you remember The radiators from space?

I own Bloc Party Silent Alarm. I know, sorry, sorry, sorry. For once i fell prey to hype and NME praise for comparisons to Manics. Won’t happen again. I hate indie music - its rock with all the balls removed so lame students will like it!!

:o

To dismiss every band in a genre says alot about some peoples character.

And, guess what bright spark, Indie music means independent. Therapy? were an indie band once too, at one time they weren’t signed to a major. Fact.

Thank you, that’s all I wanted to know.I knew they probably weren’t coming to the States but i thought we would be lucky and get a domestic like we did with High Anxiety and maybe a video or b-side added on,like High Anxiety.:p

Fuck it, I bought NANE as an import, and will do so with OCFA and all future T? albums if I have to. Sure I’m dissapointed that Spitfire or any other label won’t put out thier albums here in the States, but I’m not about to go with-out new music from these guys. Not too many of my favorite bands are around anymore, and am very grateful to the ones that are (the new Mudhoney and Revolting Cocks albums are great). So to Andy, Mike, and Neill, keep making your special brand of rock and I’ll gladly roll some cash your way.

The solution is simple, and unfortunately it’s sad. Take a look at The Offspring, they’re a great band, but on every album there’s that one tongue-in-cheek track that is the lead-off single. That is the baited hook. It’s a sad reality, but in the US music is a trend and you have entice the MTV masses into thinking what you’re doing is “cool.” The quality is secondary. Sure, it helps if the song is good and The Offspring do this well, but there are so many other bands that release nonsense and it sells. Why? Because something they did captures the attention of the public. It could be a video, it could be annoyingly catchy song, whatever.

In order to make it in the US you have to sell yourself out a bit, unless you’re a band playing the current media cashcow. The past two years it’s been metalcore/screamo-emo. Therapy? are not this and I think their brand of rock is a bit too raw for the media market. It’s amazing music, but sadly MUSIC isn’t the important part in the US.

So, looks like we’ll be paying $30 for this one, too!

All this is true, but I would rather pay twice the price for a great album than pay normal price for a half-decent one.

Think I have his album ( Whispering Jack ? ) somewhere under a pile of dust with the said song on it. Bought about 20 years ago in a romantic mood.
Got a spin twice in all that time…

As for the US charts , very scary , although having Johnny Cash in there makes up for Barry Manilow big time ;)

I like Johnny Cash… Is that a bad thing?

You’ve pretty much nailed it on the head there.
