I didn’t know that - a bit embarassing to have owned 4 copies of that album for so many years and never bothered to read the sleeve…

Title: Apparently…

.. Unbeliever was written when T? were touring the US with Helmet, and they used to downtune their guitars to take the mick out of Paige and the boys during soundchecks.

hey thought it sounded good, so they wrote a song in which they downtuned and got Paige on board fo the solo.

How can you not tell?!

Andy’s guitar solo’s are hardly amazing. I like them cos they are simple and melodic but you can tell the Unbeliever one has a bit of fret tappery in there and has to be someone else!

They sent Page the tape and told him to invent something - i think thats pretty cool!

That solo is so Page Hamilton it hurts. Like someone said, how could you not tell it’s not Andy? Andy still played the solo perfectly when I saw them live last time.

I must admit in the gigs I have seen Unbeliever played at, I don’t recall Andy following the album version of the solo at all — but then my memory is like one of those things, you know… the thing you drain food with… damn, I can’t remember what it’s called…

I remember paying great attention to the solo because frankly, I thought he’d fuck up. I was sure Martin would be able to pull it off, but I had my doubts about my cherubic Idol and he proved me wrong.

Hail Andy! *raises wine red SG*

Any particular reason? Apart from it being a damn fine hat, of course. :D

(It’s spelt ‘sieve’, by the way. I expect you’d forgotten, what with your memory being like a… um… Alex, help me out here.)

I remember seeing Therapy on the SPYF tour in 99, and Andy played just about as much of it as I can; the first few bars… then’s it all down hill from there…He just improvised something else.

I sat down with the song to really try and tab it last year… but didn’t get very far.
