Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind is my favourite. the rest of my list changes occasionally, but Bladerunner and American Psycho are usually in there.

Incidentally, I’m trying to remember the name of a film I saw, so if anyone can help, I’d appreciate it: It’s a medieval mystery horror film, with martial arts. In French.
Yes, really. :)

The film, book or both? I didn’t like the book when I read it, then watched the film and enjoyed it. Then reread the book and enjoyed that, too. Much prefer the film, though.

I didn’t like the book very much, thought it was pretty dull. The film…well, Christian Bale was great in it, but I wasn’t overly fussed for that either. Isn’t there an American Psycho 2? And isn’t it really shit?

I also love Die Hard
The Matrix
The Goonies

@Sam: Fair enough. I thought the book was dull when I first read it, but the film made all the obsessive attention to details funny, so I got something more out of the book the secondtime. The humour works better onscreen, though. I think it helps that I first watched it with a really receptive audience. (Whereas the second time I saw it, was in a room full of silent people, which put a bit of a dampener on the occasion. :))
I’ve not seen AP2, but by all accounts, yes: it’s shit.

Hackers is fun, but it’s hardly a contender for Best Film of All Time in my book. And by jove, is it a good book :p

I thought the American Psycho book was superior to the film (I read the book first, incidentally), but I don’t think they could have adapted it any other way. Some people say they wanted more gore in it, but that would most likely have reduced the film to a slasher, with a lower budget and less talented people attached to the project.

Yeah, for some reason they changed it from the original witty, stylish thriller to a shit teen horror comedy. With William Shatner.

My favourite film is Oldboy and has been for the last year or more.
