Ok, so far, we’ve had films and albums, but what are the best songs of this year? Here’s my top 5 (in no particular order):

my vitriol and placebo, like their singer’s sexualities, aren’t really known here in the u.s… if they released singles of the songs under the wheels (my vitriol) and passive aggressive (placebo) over there,…add them to my 2001 list

Also, everybody should check out every remix of every Depeche Mode single this year. Esp. the I Feel Loved remixes.

Gigi is really popular over here, La Passion was a top 10 hit, and L’Amour Toujours has been the best selling single for some weeks now, so you bet we know him! The video for L’Amour Toujours sucks though, he really thinks he’s God, doesn’t he? But the song is great

Found that soul, Ich will, Spieluhr, the whole Lateralus album, Hash Pipe, New Born, Aerials, Needles, Knives Out, Pyramid Song, Photograph, Ice Queen, Iowa, Skin Ticket, My Plague. Those are the ones I can think of at the moment anyway. And the music listened to by the people here is more varied than I expected it to be, which is a good thing ofcourse.

…Although I’m unpleasantly surprised to see Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Ricky Martin here. But listen to whatever you want to!

My mate lent me that album ‘Your new favourite band’ with songs from three of their albums, takes a few listens to get used to but I thought they were wicked. I thought they might be a bit too poppy but wasn’t at all. Completely different to stuff I usually listen too but every song was fab. Sound very much like a modern day Kinks, will defs be looking out for their stuff, well worth a listen. You got or know any info on stuff they’ve released? highly recommend them if no.

That doesn’t go for everyone, you know. I too think the albums before SP-YF were better. SP-YF remains my least fav album, I just can’t get used to it. Shameless is a good album, but not better than albums like Troublegum, Infernal Love, and Semi-Detached. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like Therapy? anymore all of a sudden, based on the great albums they released before SP-YF, they deserve some credit I think.
