Name our band

#

Started by Poque Mahone

Yes, I have a problem. Or actually the other guys of the band don´t like the name we are using now. Now those wankers are going to change it. So, you should help me before it´s too late. I dunno what they have in their minds. We are playing, well, let´s say it´s pretty close to metal. Shit, I dunno…The only thing I know is we need a new name. Perhaps…

I’m guessing that depending on the answer, your suggestions are going to be ‘Comedy’, ‘Irony’, or ‘Utterly Deadly Serious’. That being the case, I’d go with the last one. :)

I don´t want to tell you the name we have now, though it´s good:mad: And I´m deadly serious!!!! And desperate. It´s always nice to have suggestions because there might be really good one I will choose, or then the one which has been used hundred times. Oh yeah, you are interested in what would be the prize then:) Let´s say I will send our demo we are recording if I choose one in here.

Hate Week

(it’s from 1984, they have a Hate Week where they just spend all week hating the enemy, just for the sake of it)

That’s pretty cool. But does the world really need another reference from 1984, though?

EDIT And wasn’t it just a hate hour/minute? I remember they had to stand in front of the telescreen and hurl abuse at pictures of the enemy. I can’t imagine it was for a solid week.

It’s a name I have favoured for a band for years, so I hope I haven’t got it wrong, or else I have been wrong for fecking ages…which is of course perfectly plausible! :D

How about just HATE then?! :D

Hmm…Tirade?

Smackinthemouth?

I dunno..what kind of metal band is this anyway? I have in my head that it’s like Pantera or summat, maybe I should be thinking more along the Glam Metal lines? :D

Lipstick Tit?

Hong Kong Rumble?

:D

Hey, there are no prizes for stating the obvious. :p A friend of mine was once in a band called Spilt Milk. But he’s feeling better now.

At the time (which I must state clearly was BEFORE I JOINED. I HAD NOWT TO DO WITH THE CACK NAME), the band stole it off Crash Bandicoot, the playstation game.

They changed the spelling so it wouldn’t look so obvious, I suppose..

Apparently there is another band called the Bandykoots or similar, oop north somewhere.

This is scary… You know if the other guys are lurking here and see I call them wankers, it´s dangerous to give you clues because they will find out who I am.. And the first clue is there might be four of them waiting to see me on Thursday at studio.
The only cover we have done is “Unbeliever”:)We don´t play it anymore:(
I wish I could name any similar bands…hmmm… somewhere between Marilyn Manson and T?…Monster Magnet…Godsmack…Somebody said that we sound like Faith No More has gone crazy, but I dunno…
Two songs in that demo are called Black Inside and Capsule(Coming down). The 3rd one is still untitled.
*whispers: sorry guys I called you wankers, I meant cocksuckers*

maybe 1984 references have become superfluent but don’t even mention Tolkien references then. I just hate it it’s become so unoriginal. I get this weekly updates from a dutch death/blackmetaldistro and last week it was sporting a band called Uruk-Hai, I mean that’s just infantile, so obvious so unoriginal. (same goes for egyptian an sumerian mythology)
It was both, hate week and 15 minutes of hate (I think it were fifteen).
Try some Biology and Science references e.g Carapax (snappy name and obvious references to things hard and solid), Talpa (scientific name for Mole, if you’re planning to stay underground…), Tuatara (living fossile reptile with a third eye, no joke, if you play krautrock…), Kakapo (the sitting duck amongst parrots, lives in New Zealand, Douglas Adams wrote about it in Last Chance To See, if your going for complex scientific environmentally engaged literature but still funny references).
Maybe biology is uncool too, dunno, if you like Douglas Adams: Gargleblaster (as in pangalactic Gargleblaster, best cocktail in the universe according to hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. there you have a comedy literature reference with an obvious link to rock’n roll lifestyle) In the end it’s just a name. Pff I’m way too loquacious today, exsqueeze me

:eek:I don´t want to get killed…yet. There is that gang in Lahti called Rogues Gallery. I think they killed one or two MC Bandidos members couple years ago. The name Poques Gallery is actually really good but too dangerous and there was this band called Shooting Gallery. I think Andy McCoy of Hanoi Rocks played in that band?
Btw. we got tickets for Iggy and the Stooges gig in Tampere:cool:

We haven´t bought our Sauna tickets yet, as we´re waiting for more confirmation of other possible bands…:)
Andy played in Shooting Gallery and the LP which they did is total crap!

Flaming Sideburns are on the same day when Iggy is.

Yes, Flaming Sideburns, really good live band… I know THE guitar player Jukka Suksi or Skimba as we called him when he was playing in Isebel´s Pain which I use to tour with as a roadie or whatever… Jussi, the drummer of IP is playing now in our band.
If there will be one band, you know what, in Sauna Open Air, I have to buy another ticket if the day is not the same.
