The set list

#

Started by Billy Blue

I did mention it in another thread, but from the set list last night, what 3 tracks would you drop, and which three would you replace them with, if you had the choice?

I know its impossible to please everyone with such a big back catalogue, but I’d be interested to see if some of the same tracks keep being mentioned. I know they always need to play some tracks ie Screamager, which is fine but I think others could be changed.

The set list:
Potato Junkie
Stories
Rain Hits Concrete
Rust
If It Kills Me
Rock You Monkeys
Polar Bear
Die Laughing
Teethgrinder
Sprung
Knives
Screamager
Nowhere
Walk Through Darkness
Isolation

I would drop:
Stories
Die Laughing
Isolation (Deffo not a good song to close with)

I would replace with:
Opal Mantra
Dead
Dancin With Manson

Drop Stories for Moment Of Clarity
Drop Polar Bear for Dopamine, Seratotin & Adrenaline
Drop Isolation for just about anything

Polar Bear? Really?

I’d say Polar Bear, Teethgrinder and Walk Through Darkness were the best three songs of the night.

Deffo agree with Stories and Isolation tho.

I think it is time to retire Knives and Nowhere.

Great songs, but time for some new or more abstract stuff.

Knives I agree with too.

But Nowhere is probably the second most well known T? track so I think they’d struggle to drop it. Although, with only one guitar it does sound a little empty at times.

How about some Punishment Kiss, Suing God?

I can sense a “Suing God” theme running through these boards of late…!

:D

But I agree it’s a great song.

I’d love to hear Little Tongues First and Bad Karma live, though I know BK was never an especially popular song (at least I did get to hear it live once).

I think it was played at the LA2 (or Meanfiddler) a while back, it is good live, that and 10 Year Plan.

haven’t seen the webcast yet - but the song itself doesn’t really do a lot for me to be honest… I like it, but they have better.

I thought potato junkie was meant to be the great singalong closer or in the encore not the first song, i would of ended with Potato Junkie and started with Rise Up and scrapped isolation.

i wont replace anything but i would add 3 or 4 more songs… i think that only 1 hour and few minutes was quite short, i was expecting for 1 hour and a half, or maybe more…

but maybe it was that short becouse of the covers thing? was that broadcasted?

song i’d add… straight life, bad karma, unbeliever… and maybe some others from OCFA (i’m sure that in may shows this will happend)

Of course come May there should be more tracks off the new album too

I don’t see anything wrong with starting a set with a traditional closer… it’s certainly not what everyone expects, and it gets those who are 50/50 about getting involved and jumping around doing just that. I remember seeing T? in Portsmouth a few years back, feeling pretty knackered, having seen a couple of other shows that week and out of nowhere, they opened with Knives. I couldn’t help myself… :)

Last week I went to see Less Than Jake, and they opened with Gainsville Rock City, then History of a Boring Town, followed by All My Best Friends Are Metalheads. Arguably three of their best live songs #1, #2 and #3. That didn’t spoil the rest of the show, and certainly started it with a bang.

Personally, I love the surprises. If T? can mix it up, and not play the same songs in the same order every date of a tour (at least in the same country), then I’m a happier man than normal :)

Drop: Isolation, Die laughing, Stories and Knives
Have: Don’t expect roses, Last Blast, Moment of clarity, Disgracelands.

That took alot of thinking. Maybe for a encore have ‘Play On’…? :)

Some very good choices, though I’d have Bad Mother instead of moment of clarity

Love the others you picked. The set list really needs a SHAKE UP.

A good opener would be: ‘Die Like A Motherfucker’ or ‘Other People’s Misery’ followed by ‘Femtex’ and thrown in a touch of ‘Long Distance’ too, just cuz its super bad ass!

Don’t hear many Shameless requests here…? ;)

I’d personally like to see/hear ‘Dance’.
