Are you nuts?? They’ve played there so many times now they’re practically a house band!

I really had my fingers crossed they’d be playin somewhere different this time - this is great news! 3 days after my birthday too!

But the Spring and Airbrake? C’mon. Mandella’s the best venue in Belfast. Spring’s not bad (better than the Limlight) but Mandella’s so much better. Better sound, far bigger and no fucking big dirty pole in the middle of the mosh pit!

I suppose you have a point… but I really am glad to seeing them somewhere other than the Mandella.

Two recent S&A gigs I’ve been to were very different actually:

Whipping Boy (Good sound, good crowd, great gig).
Mogwai (nowhere near as good as they were in the Mandella, crowd talked through most songs).

I don’t really plan on gettin’ up to mosh anymore (tho ye never know!) so it’s probably good that S&A has more chairs and tables with good vantage points!

Ah, right. That’s why it’s the S and A, then. They’ll open up the SA, Limelight and Katy Daly’s all day with bands playing in different venues, like the Aid for Asia day they had.

I dont know if anyone was at the soulfly gig back in january but I heard from people that the bouncers were grabbing peoples phones at the front and throwing them away. Ddint see this myslef but guys form the metal ireland board said this.

bastards!
I wish some sick fucker would fasten a razor blade to the side of thier phone so whenever a bouncer grabs it they’ll get their hand sliced open (*cue evil laughter*)

Who did you work with?

Em, uh… as for stage times, if you showed up at 8 you wouldn’t miss Therapy?. It finishes at 12 (and Therapy? are headlining) so it’ll probably be even later than that.

8 o clock sounds like a fairly decent time to enter. I wouldnt fancy standing about in the S&A from 3 in the afternoon. Maybe come in at 6 at the earliest.

depends. you aren’t legally allowed to get in if you’re under 18. but if you look 18ish you may be ok… at least that was the case when i was you’re age. maybe things have changed…

last time i was back in belfast, bouncers had gone ID crazy though. can you get you’re paws on some CREDIBLE ID?

For things like this, where you need a ticket to get in, it’s probably more likely that you’ll get in. As long as you look even remotely 18ish you should be OK.

Having said that though, I only started getting into bars when I was 16, and I got knocked back half the time. In fact I didn’t even look 18 when I turned 18 :o

The worst thing you can do is look nervous or look at the ground when you’re trying to get in. Just look straight ahead like it’s no big deal, or if you’re feeling brave, throw a slight nod at the bouncer.

So, I have a chance of getting in?
