actually i haven’t bought a chili peppers album since blood sugar came out, and i don’t know why but i’m very much considering buying this one, godawful sleeve and all.

I wouldn’t pay £60 for it, mind!

I wasn’t sure at first..as they haven’t really changed much. But the more i play it the more i’m enjoying it. I do think they could have trimmed it down a bit. I thought the last album was dire but this one has some really good songs on, also the funk is back (of sorts):)

it’s sort of an edition of the album that is more expensive as they know that collectors will shell out for it.

Hope that has cleared that up:)

The collectors edition is a bonus dvd with all manner of fun things on - not sure if that justifies a price tag like that tho!!

As for the album - on 1st listen Dani California is the only good song!! A few more goes though and the hugeness of it all will start to immerse you (unlike OCFA which has gone to the bottom of the pile already!!). Its NOT their best album but its still very good!

RHCP are one of the worst, over-rated bands on the ‘scene’ at the moment. How they can recycle the same old shite for 10 years, and for people to lap it up, is beyond me. Fruscinate is undoubtedly a fantastic guitarist, but his talents are wasted on souless funk rock. Awful band.

Or maybe the Stones Rock n Roll Circus..?

Or maybe Alice Cooper ( I think there was a circus ringleader costume at some point in AC’s career..)..?

Or maybe, um, New York Dolls was right all along.

I know nothing.

the second one gets better! its cos the 1st song is a bit slow, but its really a great tune if you listen to it a few times :)

I am far from being a RHCP fan, but I must say that, on hearing this album on a colleague’s van stereo when I was out and about, it’s actually pretty diverse and there’s some really interesting stuff on there.

One thing though: Frusciante’s guitar solos are rotten to the core - what was he thinking?!
