ULTIMATE Therapy Mix tape?

#

Started by josepholney

I got this idea as I’m making a CD for my friend who came to the Islington gig with me.

So list about 20 songs that would be on your ultimate Therapy mix.

Joe.

That would be a pretty kick ass mix tape for me!

Why dont you just burn the set list for the recent tour maybe removing Diane, Fear of god and a few other songs to get it down to 80 mins?

What I hate about mix cds is that tracks from the older albums sound totally rubbish when put next to newer songs, in terms of sound quality. You gotta keep adjusting the volume/bass/treble etc, so I don’t really make mix cds anymore.

I wait for the day when T? re-release remastered versions of all the albums, so that all the songs are equal sonically, but I think I’ll be waiting a long time!

For me Fear of God was one of the best songs live as I wasn’t that keen on it, and it was the first time I had heard Diane without cello, really working.
Not sure which two songs I’d drop, as a fan possibly knives and perhaps, mmm perhaps what.. struggling

Why don’t you just buy him an album instead of a doing a mix tape… if you buy one, you support the band if he likes it, he’ll buy more (btw making mix tapes/cd’s is piracy) and if you would buy Troublegum (half of the setlist comes from that album anyway) it will only cost you a few pounds (if they are as cheap over there like they are in Belgium)… not soo much more than the price of a cd-r AND it’s legal :)

Yes I am fully aware that it constitutes piracy. But let’s be realistic here, mix tapes have been around forever and I’m willing to bet money that many bands (Therapy included)wouldn’t have discovered bands they draw influences from without mix-tapes.

I’m sure he’ll like what he hears, and if he buys just one album, then it will have been worth it.

I thought it’s only piracy when you sell them for profit without giving the band a piece and/or distributing to a large audience.

Another point in favor of a T? mix tape:

Each T? album is very distinct. If you give someone Babyteeth and that’s not their thing, they may not give T? another listen. But with a mix they can get an idea of the diversity of the band, and there’s sure to be a few tracks that anyone would be into, thus increasing the chance that said listener may actually go ut and buy a T? album (or more).

I do agree with Alan and the others about the difference in sound quality. The closest thing I have to dealing with it, is my CD recorder stereo component which has a feature where you can digitally boost the signal to try and even it out, but it doesn’t always make a big difference.

Everything prior to Troublegum are in need of a serious re-mastering job..especially Nurse.

Spreading illegal copies of albums/songs is piracy wether you sell them or give them away…

But I see the point indeed, it’s a weak one though…
if you get the retrospective for someone who’s not familiar with Therapy? they’ll get a fair view on who Therapy? are, and it’s all remastered…

I totally agree. Nurse would be many times greater with remastering; in fact, I may give it a go for my own personal use.

It would be worth a try, seeing as it’s unlikely to ever happen in the commercial marketplace.
