Two Northsiders, Anto and Mickser, decided that they weren’t going anywhere in life and thought they should go to college to get ahead.
They head out to UCD Belfield. Anto goes in first, and the professor advises him to take maths, history, and logic.
“What’s logic?” asked Anto.
The professor answered, “Let me give you an example. Do you
own a lawnmower?”
“I sure do,” answered the Northsider.
“Then I can assume, using logic, that you have a back
garden,” replied the professor.
“Jaysus. That’s real good,” the Northsider responded in awe.
The professor continued: “Logic will also tell me that since you have a back garden, you also have a house.”
Impressed, Anto shouted, “AMAZIN’!!!!!”
“And since you own a house, logic dictates that you have a
wife.”
“Sharon! This is incredible!” (Anto is obviously catching on.)
“Finally, since you have a wife, logically I can assume that you are heterosexual,” said the professor.
“Stop da lights! that’s the most fascinatin’ ting I ever
heard of. I can’t wait to get into this logic class.”
Anto, proud of the new world opening up to him, walked back
into the hallway where Mickser is still waiting.
“So what course are ya goin’ for?” he asks.
“Maths, history, and logic,” replies Anto.
“What in the name o’ jaysus is logic?”
“Let me give you an example. Do ya own a lawnmower?”
“No”
(PAUSE)
“Ya FUCKIN queer ya”

So , who of the Wombles will all be there ?

Yeah that kind of sucks, pretty early at 7.15 as well.
Oh well, finish work at 4.30 - will just have to double my drinking efforts…

Another interesting thing : Axl didn’t show up in the Hammersmith Apollo till 10.50pm last night.
Other recent gigs he was 3 hours late in Hungary and 2 hours late in Spain.
There’s no way he will be finished anywhere near 10 or 10.30 in the RDS as the curfew is , if he already shows up before that time. If so I hope Aiken Promotions and their insurance people have their act together and pull them out. If done early enough , that could leave a gap of an hour or more to fill on main stage…
Wishful thinking maybe ?
Otherwise I’ll be out as soon as T? finish and head off to the pub , so Alan can at least catch the whole World Cup match of his beloved Poland playing Ecuador :D

Just joined up to say that Therapy? are bloody brilliant. Of course I’m sure you guys know that.
I was converted in to a fan tonight at Download. I only have “Infernal Love”, “Shameless” and “Suicide Pact…” (all bought second hand) so I’m not that au fait with much of what they played. But Andy Cairns was so engaging on stage that there was an almost hypnotic experience going on.
I’d love to see the full set list because I need to track down what was played and start buying up the albums I’m missing.
Disappointed that they didn’t play “Die Laughing” though especially as he teased it at the end.

Super performance, the tent was dead for most of the other bands throughout the day, it was stuffed for T? Some of the new material I thought sounded much heavier live (Rain Hits Concrete as a case in point). Great banter with the crowd and there was still a hardcore following who stayed when the Gunners came on at 8. Rock You Monkeys / Teethgrinder / Going Nowhere etc all went down a storm, what a band - never fail to deliver!
Gunners weren’t bad either.

Andys guitar was a bit quiet at the beginning, but it got better as the set went on. New songs went down a treat :)
Shame they didn’t get to play any longer - was cool seeing them outdoors for a change.
Thought GNR were rather disappointing - they played the songs well, but were nowhere near as good at working the stage as the original line up. Was kind of like watching a GNR cover band.

Guns n’Roses were pretty terrible. Missed the first three songs due to watching therapy? (whose sound was pretty terrible) and then had to keep slapping myself to stay awake while Gn’R wanked about with extended solos and reggae breakdowns rather than playing the songs people wanted to hear.
It was a bloated, pyro-technic fuelled farce. What happened to the savage rock and roll band who blew my mind when I was 12?!
Highlight was Sebastian “Skid Row” Bach’s cameo for My Michelle. Now *there’s* a frontman!

Really enjoyed the gig though the line of bouncers behind me were pissing me off.
Though had a few good time going mental in front of them haha.
Totally loved the new stuff live. Rain hits concrete was very welcome.
It was my girlfiends first T? gig and she loved it. The boys would have blown Funerals for my Vantines out of the water. No wonder they tired to hide them in the tent out back. The new guys wouldn’t have stood a chance.
Missed a the first of GnR but didn’t mind too much.
Have to say the sound for GnR could have been better for the second crowd area but I had pit passes so didn’t care haha. Plus the Guitar wanking could have been shorter, at least when Slash did it his melodies usually fitted with what ever song was next. They played a few of their more Rocking numbers but have to agree with summer_of_hate GnR were a bit sedated. They have the numbers in the bag to make a total Noise Fest but didn’t. Though in saying that Axel hasn’t lost his voice and pulled of every song with out fail.
And to be honest if they were to play again I would go see them. GnR that is. I would go see T? open a envelope.

Will just have to buy some off the site when my Card clears after this summer of Noise!!!

As for the prices, not down to the boys - at festivals the prices of merch are usually adjusted to suite the prices of the headliner.
Was at Metallica yesterday wearing a Therapy? T-Shirt (NANE) - loads of people came up to me out of the blue telling me how brilliant Therapy? were on Friday.
Looks like the lads earned themselves some new fans :D

There was a very small merchandise stand outside with afaik only one T? shirt ( the gemil - crossbones one ) and don’t think it was organised by Therapy? indeed.
As for the gig , sound started off pretty badly but got adjusted soon and was better afterwards.
Accelerator went down very well I thought. Overall too short as was to be expected but the atmosphere was good and Andy in good form ( ” I had a dream last night I killed James Blunt ” ) :D
Only caught a bit of GnR but wasn’t too impressed. Milking guitar solos inbetween songs for ages and therefore grinding out one song every 15 minutes ???
Anyway , by some weird coincidence we ended up backstage Stage Two while GnR was still playing so we enjoyed the firework coming out of the Arena while having a nice Beaujolais with the T? party :D

On the setlist but not played was Innocent X and Die Laughing. The guys were a bit pissed off about Axl showing up on time (for once) because they had to cut the set short. Turn really got the crowd going, so much so the security apes decided to invade the pit and stay there, the assholes - always the same in Ireland for some reason :(
Andy screaming “murderers!” repeatedly about Bush & Blair was pretty cool though. Had a cool time hanging with Cuchulain and the band afterwards.

therapy?, you did us proud. When andy announced thta axel had arrived (and michael added “and hes fucking early for a change”) a few people moved out but a hell of alot of people stayed (my self included :D ).
But my god did they fill that tent. If they do hold a download ireland next year then therapy? must be on the main stage.
and i would add that i was dissapointed wiht GNR. Sure it was good when they played the songs like sweet child, night train, november rain but why the fuck was there all the solos and farting about on stage bewtween songs??!!! Defintly the guys on the second stage (laureen harris, voodoo six and t?) made up for it.
fucks sake, laurenn harris was better than GNR
