Getting into it.

How/when did you/we all get into Therapy? in the first place?

What were you intital thoughts?

in 2000 my then girlfriend was given Troublegum by a friend to listen to, and she played it to me too. (bear in mind that at the time i was into Apollo440, A, Terrovision, Beautiful South, Offspring, Queen, Rialto, ‘Phonics, Travis, Symposium etc).

first i though it was bloomin’ heavy, but i loved the really really ‘tight’ drum sound (im no musician though!). and screamager really really jumped out and grabbed me.

i bought it later that month.

then she broke up with me.

then trigger inside kinda spoke to me, all about her etc etc.

i find the irony there quite surreal!

i got into them in october 2000 when my best friend took me w/ him to a concert of the ” best of - tour”.
the show and their music just impressed me a lot, not to mention how friendly T? treated us that evening.

I heard “Screamager” from radio in the beginning of 1993 and after that went to a recordstore and bought “Nurse”, since it was the only record available. Shortsharpshock E.P. was released shortly after.

I first heard them in February 1994. A couple of friends had heard a single on the radio and found out they were playing a gig that week. I had a spare £8 and trusted their judgement so I went along with them. We were on the front row and it was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. I announced then and there that they were my favourite band and they have been ever since.

That’s cool.

I am also straining my memory to remember where your biography quote comes from, but I just can’t remember. Some dark comedy I think? :)

lolol, well done :) Definitely one of the finest programs ever written. We should have a “see how much custard you can hold in your underpants” competition on the board.

Have a look at http://www.richie-and-eddie.co.uk The site’s down for maintanance (<after several attempts, I have given up trying to spell that right!) at the moment but there’s an excellent trailer for it to download and it should be up and running again soon.

Bonus points for knowing what program the butterfly thing is from ;)

Heh heh. Remember in school when you had to write down the “difficult” words in the back of your book? I think I should still do that.

The butterfly thing is from Spaced, pleeeeease tell me you watch Spaced?

Incidently, I am in a foul mood with NIN as there was not a copy of Pretty Hate Machine in all of Leeds today. Hmph.

Watched Spaced for a bit but went off it. Preferred Simon Pegg when he was in Alan Partridge and Big Train.

Get PHM off the net ;)

You wouldn’t say that if your internet connection was as lame as mine. This is local internet, for local people ;) Besides, I’m a stickler for originals - just trying to upgrade my tape collection to CD.

I approve of all things Pegg-like but Spaced is the best. I love that every time I watch it (which is a lot, I admit) I spot a new joke that I missed the last time. Keeps it fresh.

Yeah, I only recently got into LOG as I seemed to have missed the whole thing when it was on TV.

I used to work in Crash, many moons ago. Didn’t get chance to go in today though :( I wonder if they’d be interested in setting up an outreach branch for deepest, darkest Yorkshire…

The first T?-song I heard, was the collabo with Fatal on the Judgment Night Soundtrack, as I really was into Crossover during that time.
(Was it ´94?? I think so.)

Few days later I found the “Shortsharpshock” and bought it… for just 5 DM (= 2,50 Euros!!!).
Than I bought me the Die-Laughing-Single and finally “Troublegum”.

And this was the first time , that I heard rock music, that touched my feelings (I was 16/17 or so…). Well, I liked Nirvana and such stuff, but the T?-lyrics on Troublegum were exactly the way I was thinking in this time: depressed, refused and cynic…

Well, and then I bought me the Born In A Crash, Babyteeth and all the stuff and became a fan…

The funny thing is, that my taste in music developed similar to the sounding of T?.
Example:
I got into Turbonegro and 2 years later they do a cover of “Denim Demon” - Grrreaat!!

Girl at at work (mmm…) lent me Troublegum on tape in 1997. She said “You like Rock music don’t you. This band rule !!” They do !!Blew me away really. So much power and feeling. Semi Detached came out in 98 (I think?), bought it. Fantastic. Then I went out and bought Nurse. SPYF came out in 2000 (my fave T? album), then I’ve gradually picked up the first 2 mini albums and Infernal Love. I actually bough Shameless from a dealer in Germany, cos the CD’s over there are in Jewel Cases not Digi Paks, and at the time it came out, every shop in this part of Earth (Central England) only had it in CornFlake Pak. Damn !
But I outfoxed them…Buhahaha (in mad scientist voice).

Hope you voted for Jewel Cases in my poll. :-)

They would make more sense for just CD singles, as they’re supposed to be cheaper.

don’t know what year it was (10/11 years ago maybe?), but i heard therapy? supporting the cult on radio 1. they played innocent x and meat abstract i think. i’ve got it on tape somewhere… i was pretty much blown away by it. i went straight out and bought babyteeth and then pleasure death. i bought teethgrinder on the day it was released (and nurse at the same time) and was pretty much blown away again. oddly i remember which shops i bought them from too, i guess it was quite an important part of my musical development.
