I bought the new Tool album together with OCFA and OCFA wins it hands down, but I am no great Tool-fan anyway, I was forced to buy it as a friend had said Tool kick ass. I disagree with him, he also says OCFA is the worst Therapy album, shows you how much he knows!

hmmmm, i’m not sure about that! ive listened to it lots more now and i still think its pretty boring. I LOVE our white noise and Into the Light now and Sprung obviously but the rest of it? Just doesn’t have any magic to it and Dopamine… i hate to say is probably my least fave T? song of all time. :( Nevermind.

it’s a very good album, similar to the previous one in terms of general quality (NANE was rougher in the general impact)
best songs:
-sprung
-deluded son
-into the light
-unconsoled
-privade nobody
-walk through darkness

weak ones:
-lose it all
-heart beat hits

reduced to a 30 minutes/10 tracks album it would have probalably been consider a monster.
i like it a lot anyway

Shameless is one of their finest works! - I love it and find it completely perplexing that so many find it to be their worst!

OCFA is a pretty average album, I have to say.

Some of it is great but some of it is very uninspired.

Andy says he is tired of writing lyrics (when he spoke about an instrumental album) and it clearly shows in their latest work.

Very much agree. The days of writing choruses as good as Ten Year Plan and Lonely Cryin Only seem a long way off.

thats an interesting point…how could anyone get tired of writing lyrics? Its easy and fun! I think Andy’s lyrics this time around the lines are far more concise and interesting eg “My dogtags read ‘leave me alone’”. Just a shame all the choruses sing the title of the song over and over!!! ;)

aye, dopamine… is just boring as hell, i keep skipping it as well as the song after it, don’t even know the name.

and to all who think shameless is good: i’m on your side! i just love the lyrics (thogh body bag girl is a skipper too)

plus, I really tried to like the new album, as I have not found one T? album to date I can’t put on at anytime, but I found I can only listen to OCFA when it’s in the background and i’m concentrating on something else. When I try to listen to it and have fun, I’m getting bored in a few minutes!

sorry guys, hope for the next album to be a better experience for me. and next time, get someone who does the mixing right :D

and please please pretty please work more on the lyrics! I adored T? lyrics ever since the ‘masturbation saved my life’ times, and all you have on OCFA is one measy line that’s worth remembering: ‘all you optimists can kiss my ass’.

sorry, i expected more, but hey! i still isten to the album occasionally and i paid for the copy, so you get the money you need to put out the next killer record for me!

just my couple of forints :D

It has grown on me/us too; true T? classics there (Sprung, Deluded son, Lose it all, Unconsoled…just name them!) and the songs which were not good at first listening are really good now! What is a fact, is that they never let us down!
Me and my woman love this record and this band!

I think there are a lot of blinkered views within this thread. People seem to forget that the one of the main reasons Therapy? are respected and loved by so many is how they constantly reinvent themselves according to their own standards and influences. Therefore, the likelihood is that some fans will prefer certain albums to others. For example, people who like Troublegum will probably prefer Semi Detached and One Cure (easily accessible, big choruses). While fans of Suicide Pact will possibly like Never Apologise more (heavier, louder).

Personally, I think Shameless was the biggest dip in quality and was the least ‘Therapy?’ sounding album. Gimmie Back My Brain was a decent track, but the rest is barely even a rock album. I think this can be blamed partially on overbearing outside influences such as Endino and recording in that shit hole of a country called the USA. I think the band recognised that, hence how the last few albums have been made ie. recording live, in the UK etc.

Obviously arguing and discussing different opinions about music is a big part of the fun, and long may it continue, but if you actually are a Therapy? fan, and understand where they are coming from, then I really don’t think there is anything to ‘hate’ about the new album and constantly stating this on the boards (Squall, buffalo-boy I’m talking to you) only spreads bad feeling that is not needed. You can talk about the production all you want (it’s really not that bad), and the repetative lyrics (err, what about Troublegum then?) but the songs themselves are exceptionally good. Sprung is the most rocking track they have produced in a long time (even better live) and Unconsoled and Our White Noise should, in my opinion be on the Therapy? set list forever more.

Aren’t we here to support Therapy?, and not tell them their last album sucks? I think some people just need to be more constructive if they have any critisims.

Thanks Billy. I think exactly the same!

I don’t see why you are think you are rising above us “whingers” though.
I don’t like the album - I’m really very sorry if that offends you, but I don’t. I haven’t cried, whinged and bitched about it, or called any of you cunts or wankers. I have simply stated that I think this album represents a massive dip in usually amazing T? quality.

If you want to get picky about it, you yourself said above, people who like Tgum will probably like OCFA more. This is not true in my case, I love Tgum and not OCFA as you know. That is YOUR view and your view only. How is it any different from me saying what I think?!

Can we please not hear anymore about it? As you said, the fun is difference in opinion and you have yours, why can’t I have mine? That is being a small-minded hypocrite, and being a T? fan we should be sticking together not slagging each other. I still come on here cos I enjoy the band and chatting to you guys but I can’t take being told I must have a certain opinion or to shut up, If i state my case well I should be allowed to say anything I like.

Don’t reply to this please, I don’t care what you say and i’ve heard enough. I’m going to talk in other threads and i won’t mention my dislike of OCFA again! Fair?
Keep rockin!

Handbags Handbags,

Listen man - no one said that you are not entitled to your opinion.

There were just some of you - not going to name names - who were logging on everyday slagging the album off.

WE GET THAT YOU DO NOT LIKE THE ALBUM, NO NEED TO BLOODY POST ABOUT IT NON-STOP.

Like, if you feel that is necessary, why not just form a http://www.ocfa-sucks.co.uk and take it out there?

*anger vented, hm… beer*

I like the album and can’t wait until they announce a proper Dublin gig.

Peace to you all ;)
