well fiesta me old buddy, would there be any point in a thread that went like this:

“i like Editors they are ace”

“ooh, ooh and me!”

“me too, they’re really rather good!”

“editors? great band”

“i love the editors me”

I’m expressing an opinion see, its kinda shocking i know, but i certainly don’t think i’m “wasting my time.” ;)

Fans of Interpol

I don’t get this..this Editors, do they really got anything to do with the sound made by Interpol? I’ve heard one song from MTV and I think that’s enough. It sounds like another indie shit in the wall.

But who am I to judge? I think I’m going to check out the Editors and then make up my mind.

P.S. The song Orange Crush sounds a bit like Interpol I admit that. Just checked that clip from Editors homepage.

This is my conclusion: the band’s sound and the singer’s sound is very similar to Interpol and there are echoes of Bloc Party. Few tracks are ok stuff. But the band sounds so much like Interpol and that disturbs me too much. For sure I’m not the only one to blame Editors for plagitation.

plagitation?? is that a cross between the plague and vegetation? Cos thats pretty nasty. Even the Editors wouldn’t stoop so low. :p

This doesn’t exactly prove anything, I know, but as I understand it The Editors had been together and playing for some years before Interpol released an album. It may well be that the reason they were able to a release an album of their own was because of Interpol’s success, but I don’t personally believe that they were being imitated. But what do I know? *shrugs*

I like both bands, particularly Interpol, and I think there are a lot of differences as well as similarities between the two. Editors have other influences such as Elbow, Doves, Echo and the Bunnymen, and their singles demonstrate a more ‘poppy’, less atmospheric feel than Interpol.
