Sonic Youth were/are a very good band…are they still going? I loved their cover of Superstar by The Carpenters. I’ve never been a big fan of NOFX, the singer’s voice really bugs me. I do like Liza & Louise though, if only for sentimental reasons.

And Sonic Youth… well they are fan-fucking-tastic. One of my favourite bands. Has anyone already heard their new album “Murray street”?

I don’t know why but I’ve never been into Sonic Youth. I guess I’ve just never had a decent chance to listen them. I hear Murray Street is good though.

NOFX is another story, (please fasten your seatbelts, we’re cruising down the Memory Lane) they were an essential part of the summer of ‘95 when I was working (sort of, most of the time we avoided work and had an occasional rake throwing contest) as a gardener (or sth). Some about a year older guys used to listen to NOFX whenever possible. Kill All the White Man was a favourite. Ok, I was 16. Nowadays I don’t listen to them that much. They’ve had hilarious album titles, the B-side collection’s title is great.

Title: NOFX

“Now’s the time to kiss me, then I want you to fist me” … hoochalobster, have you indeed experienced those fine lyrics from ‘Liza & Louise’?? Smack me, I’m a bold boy!!!!

I’m really not sure I should answer that. But I will (kind of) - “her last boyfriend’s a schmuck” because my ex of the time was in a band called Schmuck and most of the rest of the song fits very aptly for me and my best friend, though we were only about 14 when that came out so a no to the lines you’re on about, perv ;) Just a more philosophical growing up and coming of age kind of thing.

Last night I got home from a rock festival and we listened to some Sonic Youth, I don’t remember the name of the album but it was the first time I’ve heard more than two of their songs and they seemed alright, and if a band sounds alright when you’re listening to them in a car driving from a rock festival after two days of endless music and two nights of virtually no sleep, then it’s not a bad sign.

NOFX is also one of my favorites, but their last album really dissapointed me, the good songs on that album where released a month before on an ep, I had very high expectations on the album because the ep really kicked ass, but the album simply sucks!!!!

Actually i don’t listen to ‘punk in drublic’ that much, it’s a good album though, but my favorite is ‘Ribbed’.
I only know 3 Sonic Youth albums, and of those 3 i like Daydream Nation most of all.

I don’t really liked and like Sonic Youth, they’re pretty boring. In opinion they have only one cool song “Sugar Kane” (hope i wrote the title right).

I have to admit you’re right about the lyrics… they used to be a lot better, well yeah, it’s a punkband… Ever heard “my vagina”? …it’s completely insane, but it’s a great song!!!

theres one thing that really bugs me about nofx a while ago fat mike said that they would never release any of their old vinal stuff back on cd and if u look at thier albumn 45/46 songs… they have re-released fuck the kids and sufer, and it makes me start thonk that they might be running low on steam and are having to go against their word just to make money it might just be me, but i think its strange.

they have released some good songs though dinosaurs must die ausome.
