How do all,

I heard that Fyfe Ewing has a new or recent band who have been acting as support acts for a few bands here and there.

I would be most greatful if anyone could tell me what the band name and any albums are.

Cheers

Hmm, depends on how “new or recent” you mean!

Last I heard of him was in 1998 with a Brighton based band called the Divers. They split up shortly after he arrived though, I think maybe Fyfe has a degenerative effect on bands he’s in! He must be a bit of a moody hole! :D

They released a couple of singles, but only one with Fyfe - “Little Less Nothing” it was called. It got single of the week in Kerrang! (doesn’t mean much I know), but it’s BRILLIANT! I still occasionally listen to it; 5 years later.

Fyfe produced it as well, so the drums are high in the mix as you can imagine. Seriously, you should track it down. Especially if you’re more into the “Babyteeth” Therapy? style, ie. VERY loud, VERY garage - Helmet on helium!!!

Title: The Divers

yeah the divers single rocked. little less nothing, eyes on the prize and there was one other, somewhat remarkable track on there. *amazing stuff* but fyfe’s production wasn’t, however. pretty garage-y, but not always favourable to the tunes.

apparently, he’s back in n.i. these day, somewhere in south county down. by all accounts he’s let himself go and disappears for days at a time causing major concern to his family. i shit you not: a bonefide rock’n’roll burn out.

Cheers for the info. BtU, I only have the Little Less Nothing single - didn’t realise they’d done more.

It’s a real shame if he’s not making music any more, a truly talented man. I only met him a few times but he always seemed really sorted too :(

Wasn’t Fyfe living with his girlfriend in Brighton?
That’s how he ended up in Divers, because they’re from there.

If he’s living back in Norn Iron, and being a headcase, he must be single again. He should get himself back in the drum stool again, methinks.

He’s been my idol for ages, I hope he’s not too messed up. I know he was a big dope-head, but let’s hope it’s not anything worse…

Shame :(

He was an excellent drummer, I’d love to meet him, even if he did / does smoke dope, he’s my biggest influence and is my main reason why I want to drum.
He could sing while drumming, something which, in my eyes is special and unique. He made the Therapy? sound and the vocals on Teethgrinder are excellent.
So, Fyfe, if you ever read this, get in touch! :)

I never noticed anything with him smoking weed being a problem in T? or divers..it’s not like other people in those bands don’t?

I never got round to getting into Divers. Locals record shops in Swansea don’t bother stocking singles from bands on small labels. Still, if I’m in a second hand record shop somewhere, I’ll look for it. Sounds like its a great track if a little forgotton.
