A list full of brilliant records. So it can be discussed whether RFTC, Supersuckers or The Get Up Kids might be labelled punk.

And Descendents definitely have to rank higher than #33. :D

Looking at the top 20, this looks like a list for 14yr olds.

They are completely overrated, but NMTB ius actually a pretty good album. Not sure if its the best of all time, but probably one of the more influential.

I find Green Day at #2 more offensive.

On the other hand, Dookie paved the way for the commercial success of pop punk in the 90s as did NMTB for punk in general in the 70s.

Totally agree

And Rocket From The Crypt are as punk as any band in there, and deserve to be higher then they, top 10 i’d say.

It’s in Kerrang- of course it is for 14 year olds. The only call they made of any merit in this list was putting Black Sails in the Sunset in instead of Art of Drowning. Apart from that, predictable and lacking in testicular fortitude.

I agree w the descendents.

With the Get Up Kids I couldn’t label them punk. Their first EP or two definitly had some real punk songs on them. But Something to Write Home About (listed here) is definitely Emo.

But how the hell can they have Suffer 38? And how could they put the Bosstones on here but leave off Pennywise?! disgraceful! Also Aren’t the Cro-Mags and Napalm Death metal bands? Get them off there and add

Pennywise- About Time
Strung Out- Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues

and get Hello Rockview off there! It’s not a bad album..but please, no way in hell is it top 50 all time!

They have missed out the circle jerks group sex album which is fucking brilliant and worthy of anything else on there. Also The descendents - Milo goes to college is possible one of my fav albums so should be higher … because of that reason alone!

And is Nirvana Punk? i don’t know

I’d place London Calling higher than The Clash, and I’d put Christ The Album and Yes Sir, I Will ahead of Feeding Of The 5000. Glad to see some Crass in there, though.

They started out as a punk band, if you ever hear the stuff they did before scum it is nothing like that album… just standard punk…and grindcore came from the british punk scene. They are more punk than some bands i can think of and have the same ethic.

The Holy Bible by the Manics should be number 1 obviously - but this is Kerrang! so i’ll let it pas. I don’t think Offspring should have more than one album in there. Smash was a great punk breakthrough but the others are samey and trite. :)

Could therapy? be on that list,

I remember kerrang did the top 50 british albums and Nurse, Troublegum and Infernal Love were all in it very few other bands had that many albums on the list.

There is one band there that I like called Sublime, who were popular in the States since there singer died of an heroin overdose. There music was more ska punk than hardcore punk, so I do wonder why they’re in that list.

Crass I find difficult listening though I wouldn’t write them off. The Exploited could’ve been a little higher, and the Dead Kennedys could swop places with Green Day next to the Pistols.

Still, this is only a opinion.

I disagree..

Holy Bible IS one of the very best records of all time (catch me on the right day and I will argue to the death that it is THE best) but punk…?! Nah.
