Definitly Kubrick.
Scorcese another favorite.
I think Hitchcock is way overrated. They are rather dull.
Tarantino needs to make more.

now is it kevin smith’s directing you like, or is it his writing? i mean, his movies are funny as hell, but as far as just the directing aspects go, i personally think he’s sub-par…

kubrick. he was able to turn some shitty stories into great movies, as he did with shining.

Stanley Kubrick of course. I do like Paul Verhoeven’s strong visual style, especially on violent sci-fi movies but of course Basic Instinct (and even Showgirls ;) ). David Fincher has made some kick-ass films and of course Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton. Shit, if this goes on I’ll end up listing all the dircetors that I can remember. But Kubrick’s the one right now.

I don’t know much about Hitchcock’s films, I’ve seen just The Birds and Rear Window, I saw the latter just last weekend and I was surprised how good it was. MTV hasn’t destroyed my taste for older films yet which means that I need to watch more.

I like Tarantino, Scorsese, Coppolla. Usely very good films.
I have seen a Japanese film yesterday called “Battle Royale” or something like that. About a Japanse school class in 2075 or something, the world is a total choas and this class is in an experiment. They are on a island and they have three days to kill each other, there is only one winner. So imagine to kill your best friend or classmate…

Very violent…
